Smashing night out! But need advice!

More chance that the guy was just a ****, as found throughout the British Isles early morning most days of the week

I'm just sceptical :) especially the broken side window with an elbow bit, although to be fair on the op he may have used something.

I can almost guaranteed no one on this forum could break a car front side window first time with a hammer let alone an elbow.

This guy was hench.
I'm 6ft 6, and he must have been around 6ft 2 but was really well built, I thought rugby player type but who knows.

If I were you I wouldn't bet any money on that.

I've had to do it a couple of times and only had the contents of a tyre changing kit to do it with.

Sorry was a Peugeot 307.

Hopefully your insurers will write it off.

You should have shaken that mans hand, he has after all given you the best Christmas gift anyone could want, the chance to get a a decent car.

I have his address if you want to send him a Christmas card

Check with you insurance, mine just has glass cover with a £60 excess. I have not had to have a side window done but have had a rear window replaced withy insurance before.

A horses head were be more suitable don't you think :)

Good on the police for getting him/them, clearly they weren't that observant after a few dozen beers.

I wouldn't worry, get it fixed. Pay it yourself, won't be much, send home the bill, take it from there.

Could have been a lot worse, so just move on,

I suppose it depends whether you want to be a ***** or not. As you say, for less hassle just get him to pay up, whereas if you want to be bloody minded you can press charges and get him a criminal record.

Wouldn't be a great Christmas present for the guy but may make him think twice before he tries to be the big I Am again :).

press charges and pay for the window yourself, its doubtful you will see a penny anyway, being charged will totally **** him if he has a clean record, criminal damage is gonna screw his job prospects for a while and will show on an enhanced CRB forever! should teach him a lesson, why do people think they can do this on a night out and have zero consequences

Did a bit of research on him, and I found out where he works and his Google +.
He's a project engineer at a company, so it shows it's not just neanderthals who get drunk and act like a ****.

I'm sending the bill to him tomorrow 1st class recorded. So let's see what happens!

Stand and bang mate

How much did the damage cost? Good luck getting the money, hopefully he will be decent enough when sober to do the right thing.

He is someone who gets drunk and acts the big man infront of his friends, do you think he makes a habbit of doing the right thing? Being drunk is not an excuse.
