Smoking

I started giving up a couple of weeks ago. I used to smoke 20 a day even more when I had a day off work. At the moment I have cut down to about 10 a day for the past couple of days that I have been off work. I have NiQuitin minis mints which even though they taste like your eating an ash tray they have helped.
Well done Ixon I hope I get to your point soon when I pack up the smokes completely I hate being out of breath every time I go downstairs to get a glass of water :(

Congratulations.
Earlier this evening I went to see my Dad who has (or did have) blood clots on both lungs through smoking and they nearly killed him.
He has swore blind that he is never going to touch another fag ever again.
However I don't think his wife (my step mum) realises how bad her habit is.
In the 40 minutes we were there she went out twice for a smoke and on leaving she lit a quick one up for the 30 yards to the car - unbelievable.
Everytime she rings us she is cough cough coughing but I don't think she realises it and when my Dad rings all you can hear is her choking in the background.
It's her life I suppose.

Do some weight lifting (if you don't already), it will compensate for the increased eating & give you a rush of endorphins each time.

Then save the money from all the smoking for the first year (once you have made it to a year - spend it on a big reward for good ol'e you.

If you start smoking again, give it to charity as you failed ;P

I smoked 40 a day for a fair few years - that was £333.66 a month a the time, that's £4000 a year in cash.

In today's prices that's more like £5000 PA.

That's easily a new PC every year & a large amount towards a very nice holiday.

Keep it up OP. Also as others have mentioned don't swap your smoking addiction to a food addiction cause that wouldn't do your health any good either.

Nice one OP. I am smoke free since January 2011, after 8 years of 20 a day (smoked since I was 15). Used nicotine patches for 3 days and then felt like I could stop all together. Since quitting, I have had the occasional cigarette during drunken nights out, but havent ever woken up the next day feeling like I wanted to start again.

Feel so much better due to it.

Keep it up OP.

I stopped back in July. All i did was bought a few packets of Extra Ice gums and it worked. Of course saved a few quids down the line.
Feel a lot better. Started going Gym. so all good.

OP you've got what it takes to keep going. If you are tempted just think of how you used to be and that will be enough motivation to continue. Well done. :)

To the OP, two weeks is only the beginning but is certainly the hardest time to get through.

It's been four and a half years for me after going cold turkey on my daughter's birthday, while two close family members were dying of smoking related cancer.
