In my continuing "attempt" to live healthier I've stumbled across the idea of a smoothie maker,
however I know nothing about them apart from you stick fruit in them and drink the results.

My plan Is to ditch Fizzy drinks such as Pepsi ect.

so: If i pop 2 banana's into a smoothie maker will the result taste simular to a banana milk shake?
same with strawberry's or apples i guess?
Does anyone have any smoothie maker tips ? lol...

PS- would drinking smoothie drinks made from fruit actualy be all that healthy?

Pretty much yes. I just use my blender like £loth ;)

It is healthy because instead of fizzy pop you'll be reducing your sugar and caffeine intake and upping your fibre which will make a good healthy gut and great smelling farts.

I have a smoothie maker - honestly there is no advantage of a smoothie maker over a blender

My definition of a smoothie maker would be one that can handle ice. I don't think all blenders can.

A banana in a half pint of milk goes down a treat.

Smoothie machines are fantastic -

Here are one of my favourite combinations:

1 banana
8 strawberries
2 kiwi fruit
1 handful blueberries
Vodka (as much as you like, just use good quality vodka)
400ml Orange juice
6-8 ice cubes

Method:

peel and prepare all the fruit, cut into small peices so that they blend easily. Add the orange juice and banana to start, blend for about 10 seconds. keep adding more fruit in handfulls blending for about 10 seconds then repeating. finaly add the ice and blend for anouther 30 seconds. Serve straight away

Who say's living healthy is boring :D

and that's why so many people use blenders, you wanna go with something easy to clean otherwise it'll end up in the back of a cupboard for ever more

so smoothie makers are harder to clean than blenders, always wanted one tbh....this thread is making me sooooo thirsy..

What do you think of this one guys ? :D

£24.99

350 watts.

1 litre capacity funnel shape goblet.

Single speed and pulse.

Ice crushing blades.

Dispensing tap for effortless serving.

Full safety interlock.

Easy grip stir stick.

Non slip feet.

Is it not far cheaper to just buy Innocent smoothies? Cheaper + less washing up. Unless of course they don't do the flavors you want.

That tap is just the reason I'll stick with my blender thanks, I don't fancy trying to get all the pulped fruit out of the tap when washing up. Also not to sure a pint glass would fit under there to well.

As for the cost of fruit, all I use grows in the garden with the exception of the bananas and mango pulp.
But I agree if you want to use cranberries or something it starts getting expensive.
