Now that I appear to have resolved the datafile corruption that myseriously afflicted both my SMP boxen causing aborted wus and lots of 'no points' :( I have got a nice 3028 wu on my Dual Xeon which is worth a whopping 1440 points :)

At approx 18min/frame I am looking at a ppd of 1150ish :D

Nice 1 Dunc. ;)

Desperately trying to find a small 64bit distro that will install on my opty/ultraD rig to dual boot along side xp. Any ideas?

I'm such a Linux noob!! :D

knoppix?

I've just completed my 6th WU with 2 3024's and 4 - 3026 cores. and now sitting with 4068Pts. It looks like i'll be alternating with 2 cores then 3 cores the following day. Giving me about an avarage of 1700PPD. I'd love one of those 3028's to see how long it take to crunch that.

Ubuntu!

Been busy this week so not had chance to compile all the help I got for sorting out my Linux/SMP woes.

I am free for most of tomorrow so I will make a start on it then. It really is very easy to do. It will probably seem like jibberish at first but it'll all make sense eventually :D

They're good, aren't they?

My little Mac Mini loves 'em. Save for one disaster, I've had no problems at all - especially now I have a tool to adjust the fan speed to keep things nice and cool. :)

Ive just got a 3029 thats also worth 1440pts... 12mins 6seconds per percent so... if my maths skills are working today thats 1714PPD from my Macpro alone... which rocks.

Woot... the 12m6 frame was whilst I had WOW running, ive just checked back and its actually 11min 12seconds... which gives 1848PPD... which rocks even harder. :)

Hi, just to benchmark my machine, have you had any of the 3024 and 3026 cores and how was it taking to complete 1%.

Thanks

Sean

Not sure who you are asking,
So ill answer.. :P

Ive got a 3026 in my FAHlog that was taking 5m22s/percent...
Ive also got a 3024 which was took 5m7s/percent

As for benchmarking, this is using Macpro with 4x2.66Ghz + 4x1GB FB-Dimms

Thanks for the info. I was just trying to find out how my system compares to someones thats crunching the 3024 & 3026 cores.

3024 cores are taking 4m 50secs and the 3026 are 5m 12 secs on average to complete 1%.

Nice times.. what are you crunching on to get them? Id hope it was a quad 3ghz, or maybe an overclocked Core2Quadro....

ignore me... just checked and its 2x opt285... thats pretty sweet and clock for clock is beating my 2x xeon 2.66s... good to see AMD putting up a fight to intel... :) everyone seems to be saying intel is wiping the floor with AMD and AMD are going down the pan because of it.

It seems to be flying through these now. :D

I was using the console client with just the two consoles running and geting a really bad PPD, not what i would have thought for this machine. Once i installed Linux and the SMP console i'm more than happy. Although i'd love a few of the 1400Pt cores just to bump my PPD up.

I'll just have to wait another few days to get an acurate PPD but I should think that 1700 would be about right if i keep getting a mixture of 3024 &3025's.

Steve, has Ubuntu failed to work?

Only tried Fedora so far as that was a 4gig download and I only have 6gig per month limit. Probably not the best choice to start with?

Will have to wait a while or buy a few mags with cover disks I think. Working this weekend so won't have much time. :(

Gutted I'm missing out on all this pointage...............

I'm using suse at the moment, again thats another 4Gb download. Although i have a problem with the computer shutting off when it starts to load the KDE Gui. Driver problem i think and being baffled when it comes to linux i'm not sure what to do. I can get into the terminal window and i run the smp client from there. I'll have to try and sort it out as i can't justify having 2 X opty 285's just to fold.

Edit: 10% so far, holding steady at 110 KB/sec (uni of kent)
