SN78SH7 shuttle anyone?

ugh just got taught a lesson about messing with stuff i dont understand. Changed some of the ram timings and it wouldnt boot. Had to remove the battery from the mobo to rest the bios. Lucky they have the battery in such a convenient position eh!

Drive wise i have a Sony BDU-X10S blu ray drive
and WD cavier green 1TB

happens to us all... i will be back home later and will show my settings. So i presume both your drives are SATA?

Right... i remember what i did however, don't change it just yet as you need to either apply a patch/driver first or reinstall... so just check first

in the bios follow

Integrated Peripherals > MCP Storage Config> SATA operation mode >

i would imagine your one says [IDE] but really you want [AHCI]

i think this is what i changed and that gave me a new boast on the windows score.

let me know what yours reads

lol! i said don't change it :D

ok let me check my memory settings, do you happen to have a spare hard drive to hand? one you could do a install on? as after i realised that my wrong setting i did a reinstall.

i have the same memory and same amount..

OK hold fire...

one other last thing to try which i changed is this...

ENTER BIOS

Frequency / Voltage control > DRAM Config

> select manual

>change memory clock value to DDR 800

>change back to auto

you should notice the 800 stays in the settings, save and exit.

that is the correct speed for you memory. That may well do it. Falling that, try a reinstall on another drive with your now correct bios settings and you should get scores similar to mine

have you tried the bios memory settings? you don't need to do a reinstall yet! try this

ENTER BIOS

Frequency / Voltage control > DRAM Config

> select manual

>change memory clock value to DDR 800

>change back to auto

you should notice the 800 stays in the settings, save and exit.

Yeah, sorry that doesnt work same old same old.

Thanks for your advice, a reinstall with ACHI enabled should get it working right you think then?

well it did for me, i changed the ACHI and had the blue screen of death so reinstalled and had the better performance. I can't say for sure, its up to you my man :(

Hey Tom, strange one, i added my card and it reset the bios :(, i configured it and loaded into windows ran the test and i got 5.9 on the memory!

changed everything and reran the test and still 5.9, went back in and disabled the onboard graphics which uses some of the memory and it went back to 7.4!!

under device manger do you have this

or two entries one stating 8200?

Thanks dude, glad we figured that out in the end.

EDIT: I notice that you actaully have 7.5 for ram and im getting 7.4 for the same ram. Is that to do with you having an ssd or a quad core do you think?

woooohooo!

glad we got there, sorry i lead you round the houses, i made all my bios changes at once then reinstalled so was never quite 100% sure what caused it, lucky in away that me installing my new graphics card meant i needed to reset my bios!

i would have thought the extra notch is due to the quad or the SSD, they will vary slightly depending on all sorts,
