SN78SH7 shuttle anyone?

ok well i fiddled with my memory settings and changed them back to auto, also disbaled 'halt on errors' and fingers crossed the system has been booting fine so far. i will still run memtest later.

Hey Tom, my DVD draw is empty and running ok, but my cover for the audio and usb ports does not line up correct when shut, a slight gab, but again i am anal

it seems to be fine on a cold boot now, but it came back last night on a restart! very frustrating, i still have not managed to run memtest, but will do tonight!

why does this shuttle not have a reset button?

Looking into one of these for my mum. Not really sure if an Atom will cut it, so was looking at a Shuttle instead, Something like this:

Would the stock AMD cooler be the best bet? And whats this I hear about a noisy MB fan?

stock amd cooler? these have there own 'ice system' built in, no room for other heatsinks, mobo fan is quiet in my view

ok back to my issue, i ran memtest on both sticks yesterday for 7 hours and it completed about 7 or 8 full tests with no errors. I have now disabled the card reader and will try and see if i can get it to happen again

not come across this issue before. Have you got all the chipset drivers? and also have you tried other SATA ports? i believe there are 4.

finally with shuttles you always wanna be on the latest bios in my view. they can be buggy little systems

yeah. google it mate, i had the same issue once apon a time and you can change registry stuff to resolve. mine was bluescreening after installing windows on IDE mode in error and wanting to change.

However a reinstall should resolve it, its a gamble though because it could be something else, but sounds to be like that is the issue.

if it was me i would do a clean install, but im anal like that :D

Mine is still going strong as my media PC, hooked upto the front room TV its used every day, longest PC I have owned and with an ssd working fine I can't see a need to change it.
