A spokesman for Swiss passenger train service Neuchatel Regional Transport said one of their trains had been out of service for almost a week after a twelve-foot Burmese python belonging to a passenger escaped into the partition walls.
Infrared cameras and snake handlers with bait have had no luck locating the snake.
The rail service said that despite the low danger level with a snake of this type, passengers "wouldn't understand" had the train resumed service without extricating the pet first.
