Snow chains - they don't work

And if you fit the chains to the correct end of the car, you can do this ...

Seems to provide a bit of traction!

I don't really understand the problem with all these BMWs losing it. I drove from Portsmouth to Cornwall on Monday (through the torrential blizzards in Dorset) in the E60.

It took longer than normal but it was certainly manageable. The only difficult bit was getting stuck behind a broken down lorry and trying to cut through a snow-drift into the next lane to go around it whilst on an incline. Took me a couple of attempts but it was far from impossible.

No winter tyres, no snow chains, just common sense and a light touch on the controls. :)

A lot of it is driver education - came across a woman trying in vain to get up a hill without any luck. Just wheelspinning constantly. So I told her to try second gear and off she went.

Followed by me in my RWD car..

:p

Just found this posted on a different forum's thread about this image:

Guess the stereotype about company car drivers does have a grain of truth to it then?
