What building is that on the bottom left?

I don't have a specific name for it (even though i've lived accross from it for 18 years) ..........BUT.....

As far as i know, many moons ago it was originally an old movie theatre (I'm talking back in the 60's or even earlier) Sure my best mate told me his mum worked in it when she was a lass......I think it may have even been a snooker hall too at one point......It even featured in a god awful BBC1 program about Glasgow, that guy from the Flash toilet cleaners was in it? :o

Anyway, i grew up knowing it as a warehouse that sold shoes way back in the late 80's for a chain called Greenlee's?......Not sure if thats a Glasgow chain but they had shops all over......

Ever since?........Well, it's just sat there.......It currently has a Importer/Exporter sign on it but no one is ever in it, i dunno, maybe it's a front for some crime lords :D

It's an impressive building, well, unique looking......I've seen nothing else like it in Glasgow....I've searched Images of Glasgow in the Mitchell Library but can't find any of it from years gone by.

Sadly, last i heard it's being torn down to make way for "luxury flats"...I always thought it was maybe a listed building but oh well.....

You want a full frontal shot of it? :D

Only a dusting of snow here, in Darlington. This town wasn't meant to see a couple inches of snow!

Yes please, if it's not too much trouble. I really love interesting buildings.... always taking random shots of impressive architecture (I think I should have studied it at Uni or something really).

EDIT: Thank you :D

Exactly, because it's "face" doesn't fit with todays housing and buildings.....It's gotta go.....It's a pity because with a bit of investment it could surely be used for something :(

Your welcome :)

Thanks for that link by the way, thats a great site. Looked up a few other buildings, some of which are likely to be demolished :( (Is it only me that gets a little sad when I see such amazing buildings rotting away). I feel a few expeditions coming on, see if I can get some photos before they disappear.

/thread derailment ends :)

Snow seems to be easing up now thankfully. Hope we aren't in for any more of this next weekend.

starting snowing here in bishop auckland for the first time since god knows when... (maybe last year) at 9am

its very light, its about 1/2inches deep... nowt really... considering its been light on and off since 9...

You can't see it in that pic (photo taken from my k750i), but it's still chucking it down.
