So do HDDs not come in anti-static bags anymore?

Just got a Samsung F4EG 2 TB drive from OcUK, it's working great and I got it for a nice price. However, it didn't come in an anti-static bag. It came in a very useful pop-to-close plastic box, which is great since it's going to be a backup drive in my new Akasa DuoDock and will be moved around quite a bit. However, I'd still expect it to be in an anti-static bag inside that plastic case. I'm not sure if I've got a spare one so I'm probably gonna have to buy one somewhere.

Has anyone else bought an HDD recently and have it come without an anti-static bag?

The last few years I've found that they come in those boxes. Samsung drives, that is. All the western digital drives I've ordered have still been in anti-static bags.

most OEM drives come in that plastic shell box, cheaper packaging for mass transit.

My F1 came in the same sort of PET clamshell box with a bag with four screws in. If I remember correctly my Intel CPU came in a similar sort of container (material wise), however it is made of PVC. Maybe the idea is that they're packaged in a controlled enviroment so once the container is sealed no static build-up should occur on the inside surface of the packaging.

A seagate I bought about 7yrs ago came in a clamshell without a bag, most of the ones I've picked up more recently have came in bags

Wouldn't worry. As said, these boxes are designed for hard drives. They essentially come in a foam box with grooves cut out for the hard drives. Get a couple of dozen drives per box.
