OK - first up this isn't some thread where I want to talk about salacious tittle tattle. This is something I just read that got me thinking.

'Chaz' Bono appeared at the weekend on Dancing With The Starts, the US version of Strictly. I found this piece online just now about his sex change.

What caught me off guard was his fiancee present at his first sex change operation. Now she met Chaz as a lesbian and fell in love. Now, as far as Chaz is concerned, he is a man. Does that mean his fiancee is no longer a lesbian? Does it mean she doesn't view him as a man? It really has scrambled my noodle.

What confuses me is the lesbians who also cross dress, are they attracted to females who look like men or, like the majority of hetrosexual males, attracted to normal looking females?

I've seen so many lesbian couples when both parties are dressed to look like men, what are they attracted to?

I can get my head around that. I mean if Rule 24 teaches us anything it is that there are all sorts out there.

What puzzles me is the change. I mean his fiancee has effectively gone from gay to straight.

From what I remember Chaz hasn't had a full sex change operation though, just HRT, style change and a hair cut.

Maybe she swung both ways so it didnt really matter? You love the person not the body, I would say a lot of guys like thin girls and thats what they like but they dont dump their wives when she puts on ten stone.

Have a click o' the link. It shows an interview piece. Yes, he has only had his "top" done so far. However he views himself now as a man and does hope to have a penis at some stage.

The point remains that his fiancee fell in love with another lesbian. Now, the goal posts are changing somewhat.

She now either

(a) Doesn't believe he is actually a man and what sort of basis is that for a long term relationship?

or

(b) Believes he is now a man and that means she is no longer a lesbian????

Quick and dirty answer would be that in this circumstance, 2 women fell in love. The sex change obviously wasn't an issue as they were able to overlook genders.

Does that mean that all lesbians 'just need the right man'? Of course not.

having read the article it looks like its worked out for the guy/girl so fair play to them. he/she is still a woman from the waist down so it's still middle ground really, despite looking like a dude.

Maybe sexuality isn't as clear cut as we would like to believe and most of what we consider our sexuality is social conditioning? It is quite possible that they fell in love with the person and the gender doesn't really matter? If sexuality is a scale rather than binary/trinary position then gay and straight don't really exist except at the extreme ends of the scale?

Well, put it another way. How many guys on here would still stay with their wife/girlfriend if they had a sex change and became a man?
