So erm, first breakdown

Sell it with the problems. As long as the new owner knows they are there, like you did, there is no comeback.

Second hand radiator to get it going, get rid.

I'll see when I fix it ( busy week so might be standing till the weekend), but I must say even though I've only had it for 2 weeks I really like the way it drove, well, when it still worked...
However obviously, it depends on the price, if I can sell it for 900 ish I probably will, if not, then I don't know, I'll probably do a full check up at a garage and if that reveals more upcoming issues, I can always break it down for parts, on Galant forum they're jumping for various parts and not afraid to pay for it. Seen offers like 150 for the wheels, 50 for a brake caliper, 100 for body parts, etcetc.

Time will tell, but I can say I like the way the car drove :(.

You've already stated that space is an issue. Do not even consider breaking the car for parts.

For 2 weeks you're still right in the "honeymoon" period of car ownership. For 2 weeks I liked the way that my last E30 BMW drove despite the fact that it have comically defective rear suspension. Take it from someone who has been there time and again eventually the rose tinted specs will come off and you'll realize you're stuck with a heap.

Like I said, put a second hand Radiator on it, stick it back up for what you paid and chalk this one up as a learning experience :).

How can you not when your previous car is a Volvo V40.

Well tbh, I prefer the way the Volvo pedals feel and it has more predictable handling and it is very forgiving when you make mistakes. It has far nicer audio ( obviously with a bit of money thrown at it the galant would too and moving the amp and sub and speakers over) and more practicality too. WAY easier to park too, since I can see where the rear ends unlike in the Galant ( saloon is harder to park imho, as you have to judge rather than see where the rear ends)

I felt the Galant had far nicer steering and suspension ( despite being worn, I prefer the softer wobbly suspension over ''hard'' suspension and the V40 suspension is extremely hard compared to pretty much everything else I've ever driven but my work vans ). Oddly, it also felt more grippy at higher speeds ( but not at lower speeds and more extreme corners). And of course, I could drive far ''lazier'' due to a FAR wider power band than the Volvo, the Volvo has A LOT less power on the lower rpm range and revs slower than the engine in the galant. And finally, the sound from a V6 at 5500 RPM :), smooth :).

That is all very well and good, but the V40 isn't a dog that requires thousands of euros worth of worth to be brought upto a remotely presentable state.

Sell up and reassess just what you want from your next car.

I suspect this thing is going to be more trouble than its worth.

If you want to ***** €2000 up the wall, I'll sell you my S90. It evens comes with NAP-verified mileage ;)

Doesn't towing eat radiators? I remember seeing an old Punto van rad that had towed a lot and the fins were falling and flaking of from it. The now infamous galant is a massive tow whore, not something to cherish and keep!

I have unbolted the rad today and it is indeed a bit impossible it was hit by a stone, the Aircon rad is right in front it. One of the ribs simple has a hole in it. Tried to seal it but it's too wet today ( been pouring water in it to localize the leak precisely), so I'll come back tomorrow with the rubbery gasket thing and try to drive it home.

I haven't yet posted pics of it ( couldn't take better pics without walking out into the road ( on one side) or housing (on the other side)):

The rust ( welded, sanded and coated with that anti rust spray, can't recall the brand, the swedish one, the borders of the welded area's will obviously have to be filled, sanded down, and sprayed to look remotely neat) :

so much for japanese reliability

All I want to highlight is this...
You bought the car as a wreck, in no way shape or form is this vehicle a showcase for reliability.

Want Japanese reliability? Don't buy scrapheap bangers.

All the things you say you are getting done... Why didn't you buy a car that didn't need these things? I can't see how it can't be cheaper to do it this way. The V6 Galant is not an expensive car (to buy).

They're some twoblacklines quality photos.

I now seem to think that people who can't take proper photos of their car are subconsciously ashamed of it.

Can you read ? The car is stuck. I can't move further back without going inside someone's home or running out in to the road... What's wrong with the pictures anyhow they look fine to me just the distance problem. The angle and lighting is fine.

How can you say this? They are 3-8 k here depending on age and condition. I've seen one with the same problems ( clutch and rust) for 2k, a month later when I called it was sold... A 96 punto is up for 2k in my street for sale for example. Used cars are 2-4x more expensive here than in the UK.

Scrapheap bangers are 50€, I can get that for selling the wheels alone, let alone all the parts on it...

Nothing at all do do with the fact you've chopped the roof off in one, chopped the front off in another and managed to get more silhouette of yourself in than you have of the car then!
That brick paved road looks a real dangerous place to stand, real busy stretch of road that!!
:D

Not even going to mention the feminine look about that silhouette either...

Those were to point out the welding of the arch , clearly separated by a line of text. The top 2 are pics to show the car which I shot today, the bottom 2 is to show the welding, taken a couple of days ago...

If that arch has rusted what had to be welded?

It looks like someone's just painted this anti-rust paint over the top of the rust and thats it.

It already looks like its rusting between the paint and the arch, it doesn't look good.
