So... F type R / GT-R MY14

Had the GTR (2012 MY13), tuned to 650bhp, got board of the ride/noise/build quality and to get the most out of it you have to drive well above the speed limits or take it to a track.
And anyone who think it drives itself is just wrong.
Just watch this video with Chris Harris comparing it to an M5, pay attention to him after the 3min mark.
I think most of the drives itself or no "personality" comments are from people who have driven it in Forza or GT5.

I looked at an F-Type but in the end wanted a manual gearbox, probably for the last time the way car manufactures are going so went with the R8 V10 Coupe.

I think it has the plus points of both cars and then some.

What have you got now Juice? Link! :P

I traded the F-Type for a Ferrari 430 Spider with a manual transmission.

F Type R looks superb, sounds superb but I think it would probably be low down on my list if I had £85k to spend on a car.

Isn't the new California supposed to be around £85k as well?

The new California is coming in, at least over here, at $20k more than the outgoing model. I forget what the MSRP in the UK is for the current California but I'd wager it's not going to be below 110-120k.

For reference, a California 30 here is $230k and can reach $300k with a heavy spec sheet.

Just built this = £102k!

It does look good but I would lose the silver highlight bits and have some more "normal" looking wheels :p

I like the yellow callipers with the green paint though.

Wheels get limited with the ceramics due to the caliper clearance, yellow = ceramic. Those wheels are the forged ones aswell which is another k on the ceramic pack.

Jag for me. I am in love with the sound they make. I have already decided that it is my first purchase should I win the lottery tonight

Had both a '14 F-Type V8S and a '13 GT-R. Totally different cars but honestly for fun factor I preferred the Jag. The GT-R was more capable and a far better daily driver but I found the F-Type entertaining every time I drove it. I wouldn't say it's a perfect car though, I had quite a few issues with the build quality and general feel of the interior given the price. That said, I probably would've kept it if I hadn't wanted to get into a Ferrari again.

Edit - I can post a better/more detailed look at both when I'm back home if anyone's interested.

I am starting to think you change cars more often than I change my shoes :p seems every post of yours I see you have a different car.

Having never drivem both I would say F type. GTR is good if you want to god fast but for normal road driving the F type seems more of a spectacle and special occasion.

F-Type R Coupe. No contest.
I think it's one of the most beautiful cars made recently. Also, that sound! Reviews are damn good as well.
Obviously it'd have to warrant tests.

Looking forward to seeing it JP, I was oh so close to buying a v10 spider manual. If the manual 430 hadn't been there it would've happened :)

Me too! (looking forward to seeing it ;) )

Problem with the Spyder, other than I don't really want one is the 2" or so less leg room.
More apparent in the Gallardo but still pretty bad in the R8, me being over 6'3 I just can't do without the legroom, the LP560 was really bad, knees up the side of the steering wheel, no idea how Clarkson managed with his.

I hope Audi will be getting a White R8 V10 manual on trade in at the end of the month which I can borrow for a few days while waiting for mine so ill post some pictures of that :)

Sorry for off topic!

Pretty surprised that the Jag seems to be coming out as a firm favourite - most people nowadays seem obsessed that the GT-R is good simply due to the speed of the thing.

I wouldn't buy either. I have driven a standard GTR and I liked it a lot though it was muted and if I owned one it would need atleast a Y pipe. What I did find though and Harris also comments on this, is the GTR is a bit big, it is like a grand tourer with supercar power especially when tuned, but would you want to do what GT's are designed to do (tour continents) in a GTR? I wouldn't. Plus the image; it is what drug dealers in big cities drive and I would be a bit embarresed going to a business meeting in a loud Japanese car that a lot of people think are for grown up boyracers.

The F type does not appeal to me at all.

For the £85k or so that the F type costs I would buy something like this:

Old Gen compared to the 458 I know but much cheaper and you have the advantage of having indicators on proper stalks!

Your loss then :)

My F430 spider is the most exciting car I've owned in the last decade, way more entertaining and dramatic than even the MP4-12c.
