So got a PS4 with Killzone today and it doesn't look like an upgrade :(

The fact that he never knew the resolution of his TV off the top of his head suggests that he doesn't have a leg to stand on tbh.

If you care about quality then you would know a lot more on top of that as well.

For example

My TV is a GT50 Panasonic plasma and the 2nd best plasma panel they have ever made, the only newer and better panel is the kuro killer used in the VT65 and ZT65 and it looks as if this shall be the case forever as they stopped plasma production in December permanently to make way for OLED.

I wouldn't know all of that if I didn't care about the quality of my TV which is the most important factor in displaying a quality image apart from the source.

This is like someone listening to FLAC through a Bush soundbar then saying that it's no better than mp3

The opening to Chapter 4 alone in KZSF should put beyond doubt to anyone that the PS4 is a leap from the PS3.

A new TV would help, but you don't need a new TV to be able to see the difference at all.

You could see the graphical differences between Half Life 2 (original 2004 release) and Half Life 2 Episode 2/Left for Dead 2 at 1024x768.

The OP either has bad eyesight, a limit in how he can perceive graphical quality, or is on the wind up.

Nah, everything will look a blurry smeary mess on that TV due to massive pixels and a couple of scaling layers.

Whilst last gen looked like that by default he should be able to appreciate the clarity of a good 1080p signal when he sees it.

The graphics are the same except a tiny bit less jaggy, what have they upgraded exactly as I am struggling to see why I have paid £385 for this...

I may just send it back to the superstore.

If you think Killzone SF has graphics the same as PS3 games, you need to go to specsavers, not the superstore.

Sorry to hijack the thread guys, but I've been playing Crysis 3 on my top spec gaming PC and the graphics just don't look like much of a leap from Minecraft :/

I don't think it's the monitor, it is 640x480 (so that's like 307200 pixels ! ! way more than 1080 ! ) and I know it's good because of how heavy it is.

Have I just wasted £1000 upgrading my PC to play it? May send it back to overclockers :/

:/

My nephew purchased an Xbox One and was using an old 720p TV. He was angry that FIFA 14 looked no better than on Xbox 360. Shortly after he purchased a new 40" Samsung 1080p TV and he was delighted as the graphics were vastly better looking.

Same story with Killzone. It is an amazing looking game graphically but quite a dull game to play in my opinion. Try it on a modern 1080p TV and I guarantee it will look much better. Personally I thought the graphics were superb but ended up trading the game in and I found it very boring to play.

take it back m8 and get manic miner on the zx spectrum, great game stunning gfx ;).

those seriously do like my spectrum emulator hehe.

It is a HD resolution, bear in mind my TV is now like 7 or even 8 years old.

That might be so but unless you output a 1024x768 source to it with 1:1 pixel mapping it's not going to be very clear due to the scaling, 1280x720 simply doesn't go into 1024x768 without negatively impacting the image quality.

A 1280x720 or 1920x1080 TV is what you want with 1:1 pixel mapping.

It meets the definition of 720p. I'll get a new z zombie box at easter.

It meets the definition on 'HD' but again you want to run any monitor/TV at their native resolution for best possible image quality. In this case you need a console that outputs 1024x768, there aren't any!

Killzone wowed me more than crysis 3 did or BF4 lol...yes it doesn't run as good as those do on a top PC but it looks gorgeous...Name any scenes on those games that wow you as much as chapter 4 on killzone when you step out of the aircraft..its stunning.

I have a high end pc and have not seen much that has the visuals and detail that Killzone has.

I have a good spec pc with a dell 30" and run my games @ 2560x1600 and I must say I am well impressed with the graphics on the ps4

Me too, I think people who poo poo the PS4's graphics are just in denial. With each new console generation, PC gamers get a nice big boost to the average visuals of games that come out, this time will be no different.

I have to agree, I have a decent PC and the PS4 graphics match it as far as I'm concerned.

KZ Shadow Fall is a stunning looking game, so anybody saying they don't see an improvement over last gen graphics is either trolling or visually impaired.

That said, 1 visual effect in that game that I thought was done very poorly was in Chapter 1 where there appeared to be some sort of particle effect. Really didn't work. Looked absolutely awful. Other than that though, it is a very impressive looking game. And I say that as a predominantly pc gamer.
