So he passed away in his sleep last night...

Bit low mate. The OP has just lost his pet and whether you like cats/pets or not you don't need to post something like that.

I dont mean it to sound like it does.

But its a cat after all, i came in here thinking someone has passed away going by the thread name.

It depends how you view pets. If you view them as almost a piece of furniture, something you own, then loosing it won't be that bad. However, if you view your pet almost like a human, then yes, someone close to you has passed away, and you should be allowed to feel emotions close to that of loosing a friend.

RIP

It's like loosing a memeber of your family, we lost our cat charlie in 2005, he was definatly like a family member, I grew up with him. He always had to be around us, I remember doing my homework for school and he would come and find me because he was lonely.

just read all the news about death in various war zones but this story touched me more. Perhaps it stirs memories of all my pet losses.

I feel your loss and your mum's.

Best cure is to get another one.

I class pets as family members n this one wanted to be human, sat with us all the time, laid out infront of the fire, slept next to us under our duvets, ate our food, always tried to get it off our plates, loved butter on bread, sat with us in the bog

Lovely cat he was :(

Really REALLY feel for you, we love our 2 cats and nearly lost one a few weeks back they mean everything to us and no matter what they need we would do, I think we are alike and I can feel the pain and hurt and genuinely hope you all feel better soon, I 'm not good with words and I don't know what else to say, I'm sitting here looking at the monitor just praying for you.

RIP little baby.

sorry about your lost, i actually cried when i had 2 leave my cats ( new house ) i had 3 it killed me , stil not over them a year later :(

RIP Charlie, it dosnt matter how long you have a pet as soon as you love it it hurts when they go.

Can't agree more. My heart was broken when my first cat died, I still get a bit teary every now and then when I get the old photos out or whatever. Amazing how much of a bond we have with our animals and you don't realise how much until it's broken

R.I.P Charlie, it's going to hurt dude but remember he's in an even better place now :)

EDIT : I remember those pictures now so damn cute almost brings a tear to my eye that.
