So I realised the error of my ways...

Not any more hence why I'm considering 2.5 pipe. Its mostly a weekend driver for me as I work in central during the week. Got the odd long trip every so often (Scotland in July for a week) but otherwise not much.

Thought as much re the cold start. Oh well lol, I don't do many if any early runs in the car so shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Do it, if you don't like it I'm sure he can put it back to 2 pipe mode or just buy an oem used box of ebay. :)

Car looks great, absolutely stunning cars for sub 20k but so is the V10 M5 as well, great buys with a warranty.

Greatly improved :D How do you find it when driving along on the motorway?

Fine tbh, slight hum at 75+ but then I always have music on so not an issue and I don't do much long distance motorway driving. The sound when pottering around...wow the video doesn't do it justice. Also mine is a manual so only 6 gears, I imagine if I had a 7th gear it would be negligible.

Wow, what a difference!

Indeed and it sounds so much better in the flesh.

These are good value at the moment. I think people will start to appreciate these more as they forget the E46 more. Bit like the E36, that seems to have a growing following. For me the E46 was the best of them all, but no M is a bad car and these are good value right now.

IMHO these make a far better buy at this end of the market now than the silly money E46 M3's everyone seems to have started buying recently. The CSL is a special case but IMHO there isn't really anything about a regular E46 M3 that makes it worth almost as much as an E92.

I'd agree, CSL aside.

Indeed fox but some people have a real soft spot for the e46 and hate the e92, much like a lot of people hating the current f82 m4. I imagine like Housey said the e92 will start growing in popularity due to the awesome NA V8 under the bonnet. Every generation of m3's has had its detractors.

Also I promised myself the Exhaust would be the last mod I did to this car but I've been quoted £900 for a CIC retrofit including contoller, coding, latest update etc(Excluding combox as I have a tune2air for playlists and album art which is the main reason I'd want a combox) and I have to say I'm extremely tempted. Worth it?

The e92 felt cumbersome (a relative term in this context) and less lithe than the e46 and frankly wasn't loads quicker as people first believed. It was heavier and felt it and just didn't feels as tight or agile. The engine was a masterpiece but so is the e46's, certainly more special and charismatic than the current M3/4 engine. I drove a couple of e92's when I had my RS4 and would not have changed from the RS4, it was better, not quicker or sharper, just better as a road car. However as I said BMW has never really made a bad M car, perhaps the Z3M was one but outside of that they are all fine cars and at the current market value the e92 is great value and a good buy.

The Tune2Air does album art? Really?!

Interesting.

I'd say it's worth it, I really like CIC. It's not as smooth and flash as NBT but the interface is very very similar, both are very different to the older CCC.

Only on iphones/ipod not on android and only if your current setup displays album art, http://www.viseeostore.com/products/viseeo-tune2air-wma3000b.html.

I think I'll go ahead with CIC, it's a reasonable price which makes it hard to resist.

Are you sure - I can't see how it will do without the Combox as the software on the CIC will default to track information and not display the image. The Tune2Air might pass the album art through to the car but the car won't interpret it?

Yh think you're right, well I can live without album art tbh, playlists and in car functionality is the main thing I want. The combox would add another £400 to the cost and I'm not sure it's worth that for apps, webradio and album art unless you can convince me otherwise?

I can't really. Even though they are months apart in terms of age my 530d hasn't got a Combox and my Dads 520d does have a Combox so I've been able to directly compare functionality. The noticeable differences as standard are:

a) Bluetooth music streaming
b) Multiple simultaneous Bluetooth phones connected
c) Album Art

You've fixed a) with the tune2air (And I just have everything on a 64gb stick) and b) isn't something I'm interested in. c) is really cool but the novelty wears out quite quickly because I find that I don't tend to use Split Screen mode very often, preferring the fullsize map view, and you only get the album art if you are using full screen mode.

There is additionally functionality on top such as BMW Apps but they are an additional option his car doesn't have so I've never used that.

IMHO a Combox is something that's nice to have if its fitted but not worth spending 500 quid to fit.
