So, in a small space, is VR a wasted opportunity?

OP your space is about the same size as my current VR space (hopefully larger when I move in October). Seems okay for the most part.
I have a similar area, and occasionally I clunk a controller into the wall (or more regularly the light bulb above me), but once you get to know your play area limitations you can work with them.

Generally speaking, with 2 sensors you're going to be facing forwards most of the time anyway.

Don't get me wrong, more space would be better and it might bug you, but it's a lot better than no VR!
Just came to order...

The OC page no longer lists the Xbox wiresless controller or Oculus remote - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ulti...t-and-oculus-touch-controllers-vr-003-or.html

I can't find the bundle anywhere :(

Before it said it included an Xbox one pad + wireless dongle for it.
So the difference now is the lack of the XBox controller and wireless dongle and Oculus remote? Is that right?

I wonder how much those cost separately?
XBox Controller and Adapter? £50
Oculus Remote? £29

So you'd have to buy the "new bundle" for £399 and then spend about £79 to add the missing elements?

Yes seems that way, which is really annoying, Oculus should have communicated that bundle was going to go out of stock when it was on sale, i would have purchased last week then.

I have never used the Oculus remote, so that's not much of a loss. The xbox controller, for me, was a nice addition. I guess moving forward, it's better to supply the bare bones and make it cheaper rather than include extras people might have already. It's a pain for you guys caught in the switchover though.

Actually is the XBox controller with the bundle just a standard XBox One controller?

In which case I have one of those, so the price difference between the "new bundle" and the "old bundle" would be:-

Oculus Remote: £29
Wireless Adapter: £17.50

So that means £46.50 more...

NOTE: A famous electrical retailer with shops still has the bundle... For £499! So more expensive than doing the above!

So what does the remote offer/do? ie: By not having one, what's lost?

Not connected mine yet and not needed it, Xbox controller I do use though, previously had a wired Xbox 360 one.

Edit for quote from polygon
""No gyro," Luckey stated. "It is essentially the input set of GearVR made into a remote. You are technically able to replace the battery, but the included battery life should last for about 4,000 hours of use.""

The remote has volume up and down too (which you otherwise need to go to the home menu for), and it's a fairly easy way to reset your view if the game doesn't offer a button for it. Touch controllers and the Xbox controller can achieve the same thing, but when say using a joystick or steering wheel the remote can be useful.

I received my bundle on Tuesday, which came with the extra peripherals. The Xbox One controller is an ideal replacement for my aging Xbox 360 controller, and the Oculus remote is useful when using the cinema environment in Virtual Desktop.

I'd be livid if I paid the same amount of money for an inferior bundle.

Any pad will do I use a logitech wired one no problems as the second hand rift I picked up came without the XBOne one

The oculus remote is redundant if you are using the touch controllers, I used it before I had touch and still do if the touch controllers are not in use but you don't need it.

Imo in a small space VR is at its strongest right now. The waving-your-hands-around games are mostly gimmicks and quick fun thingies atm, but driving a car on a race track or flying a plane in VR (all while using steering wheel and joystick of course) is when VR becomes serious enjoyment that lasts.

People are different. I bought mine to play mostly racing car games and finally get into Elite Dangerous, but, I spend all my time playing games that require you to move around. That's where VR wins for me. Don't get me wrong, racing car games are amazing in VR but the freedom to walk around and interact with your environment is the best IMO.

I have to agree with this. I was thinking purely of elite dangerous when I got my Rift, and now I just play standing up wacky inflatable waving arm man games.
