Been to this Sony event down in Brummy Land this past weekend and thought after playing Killzone 3 that I should give the PS3 another whirl (not used it since LittleBigPlanet came out), so ran out (well, walked) and bought Killzone2 and Heavy Rain.

Started playing Killzone 2 - as you may have guessed from the title - and I'm in two minds about it at the moment! For atmosphere, it's ace. The opening intro is brilliant, reminding me of how good the voice acting/animations were in Heavenly Sword. The opening setting on the space ship in low orbit was also brilliant. But the Playstation controllers are just awful! I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually, but I'm using the Alternate 2 controller mode, and it's like some sort of Chinese Finger Trap when you're wanting to hide behind cover, use your iron sights and shoot some Helghast! The lag when trying to aim is also somewhat annoying, and makes Close Quarters Combat rather hit or miss (pardon the pun)! It's usually far easier to leg it up to them and melee, and I'm the sort of geek that self proclaims himself to be pretty special at shooters!

The art direction's a bit weird as well....... The ISA have supposedly mastered space travel, yet when they send the troops down on their little landing boats, they're completely unprotected and have to rely on either being around the main protagonist or integeral to the plot in order to successfully survive a landing :p

Still enjoying it don't get me wrong, and I've only finished the first mission so far, so looking forward to enjoying more of it :D

i didnt like kz2 , very linear (even the devs admitted that), graphics are nice but gameplay is lacking and the controls are a disgrace - got about half way through then called it quits...its a seriosuly overhyped game imo much like the first (Which is now regarded as a POS)

I had respect for the first, it properly pushed the PS2 to its limits and was without doubt one of the best lookers on the platform. I even really enjoyed the gameplay, just never got round to finishing it......

I enjoyed it, the reduction of auto-aim is what I liked especially online as it actually feels rewarding when you pull off decent kills as there is no COD physics/little auto-aim. Last time I played single player was around the release so I'm not sure if it has aged at all? Check out online though, the multiplayer system is the best I've seen this gen, me stella and a few others were playing online for a while and are considering playing again.

I played it for about 30 minutes after expecting it to be amazing and turned it off. Not touched it since, keep meaning to try it again but it doesn't offer anything to draw me in.

I loved the first so i was excited about the second, but just hated the controlls of the second and thats what killed it for me. I would go through ammo like a madman as the aiming was DIRE! I think i am too used to the snap aiming of MW1+2.

Personally liked it. Though I played it after they fixed the contols with patch.

Never really gave the MP enough of a chance, but as PS3 seems to becoming my MP platform of choice, will probably give it a go some time providing thre are plenty people playing.

Though, BC2 will likely be my main shooter for some time to come.

Am sure I'll give the Multiplayer a blast once I've finished the campaign. Don't really fancy jumping straight in at the deep end and getting my ass handed to me!

The current controls are "fixed"?!

Only got round to getting a PS3 about 3 or 4 months back, and picked KZ2 up cheap a while after. Abandoned it after maybe 2 hours or so due to it having some of the worst feeling controls I've ever encountered on a console fps.

I didn't enjoy it at all. I agree with the controls - but I hate PlayStation controllers anyway - not built for human hands.

The graphics were pretty good at times, but the more I played, the more I realised that they had a few good special effects, but the general world environment was pretty poor - much like Gears of War 2.

Gameplay I found boring and repetitive. When I did go online, there weren't very many people on - so I figured online wasn't very popular. It didn't seem anything special to me either. Only played it once, have no desire to go back. But I though Warhawk was rubbish too - and lots of people raved about that.

I was massively disappointed with it because after all the hype I really thought it was going to be a great game.

What about Heavy Rain - I haven't got that yet - but did enjoy the demo. Think the full game probably has a lot to offer?

I've finished KZ2. The control system is hard, it's very weighted. nothing to do with auto-aim for me. KZ2 in no way represents the PS3 joypad in terms of how FPS games play. If you can play and finish KZ2, you could probably play MW2 one handed (slight exaggeration)

It looks a good game but as people above have said the controls are just horrible, it really did put me off it. I think for me it's partly due to the controller as well, it just feels really uncomfortable and awkward at times.

well im gonna disagree with every single one of you, the controls were ace once you got used to them, and im sorry but if you can't get used to different 'feel' in games you have no business in FPS games, because they are all different in little ways, Halo 3 for example is needlessly sensitive, COD:MW2 and MW1 feel different through the controller, the list is endless. to be honest the weighted controls make things feel more 'connected', i feel when im playing MW2 im not actually connected to the game in any way. sorta like when im driving how i can't stand my cars 'city steering' setting, since it feels so disconnected from the wheels. i guess its just personal preference but those who gave up because of the 'broken' controls should really give it another chance, but soldier on with the controls and you will enjoy the game since its one hell of a ride from start to finish. especially the sniper parts on the bridge, some of the best sniping i have done for ages in a FPS :)

I found the controls fine, even using the default control scheme.

The aiming is "hard" because the recoil is more realistic than other shooters, which the noobs hate(d) :p

The build up to the end level with the bridge and the storming of that place was up there in my top 20.
