I think this has been on the cards for a while, and this quarter's financials seem to indicate a continuing downward trend...

It's never an encouraging sign when a company whose product you use is in trouble, but it happens to all of us. This week came the latest evidence that SSD maker OCZ Technologies is in serious trouble as its sales have collapsed. For its second fiscal quarter ended August 31, 2013, revenue was $33.5 million, a huge drop compared to revenue of $55.3 million for the first quarter of 2013 and revenue of $88.6 million for the second quarter of 2012. The net loss for this quarter was massive, $26 million, a doubling of the $13.1 million loss in the same quarter last year.
Full story here.

It's a shame to lose any hardware vendor, but after doing a search through posts to see if this had already been posted I picked out a few disgruntled OCZ owners to say the least. Early failure SSDs, noisy power supplies, terrible customer support and RMA procedure being just some of the issues.

The early warning signs of a company in decline with product and support quality dropping through the floor, and now it seems people are voting with their feet too.

Reckon anyone will sail in to save the brand, or is this another consigned to the WEEE heap?

Sad day but its been coming awhile :( wouldn't be suprised if someone else bought up the name though.

Really miss the days when companies like them, gainward, etc. pushed the boat out with innovative takes on products.

I'd read a while back that they'd already gone bust in some form, maybe I read it wrong? But I've been expecting them to disappear for a while now, so I have consciously avoided buying anything from them as I know it'd be a hassle getting warranty support in future.

Sad to hear this. I was always a great admirer of the crackingly good reaper memory kits they produced. Must have owned five or six from different ddr generations Their ssd's on the other hand were plagued with issues, (i personally had a couple die on me). Tbf though, my experience with their support was pretty good.

My first 'expensive' PSU was an OCZ 520. Was very well recommended at the time but I doubt I would buy anything OCZ now, just too many bad reviews around.

Reapers were good but nothing on their best efforts though :(

RIP:

OCZ DDR1 Gold XTC (can't remember now if it was VX or GX model - crazy overclocking with the booster).
OCZ Titanium Alpha XTC VX (Hideously over priced and picky about motherboards but stupidly fast)
OCZ DDR2 PC2-9600 Blade ULV (Ultra rare (not the LV model) - hit 1333+ stable)

Well this is sad. I don't like the reliability of their SSDs, however their earlier products were actually quite good - especially their memory lines.

First product I bought was a set of DDR1 Gold BH-5s that used insane voltage to get high overclocks with tight timings. Still working to this day.

Most recent was a Vertex 2 which I RMAd at 8% health with only 800GB of host writes. The replacement seems to be holding up, although IO speed is all over the place.

I've actually had 2 SSDs from OCZ and both are still running like Champs, a Vertex 2 and Vertex 3 (touch wood). I also remember buying their memory for the first time about 5/6 years ago which still works today.

Seems like I'm lucky not to have had any issues though as I've seen lots of them surrounding SSDs, even my friends Vertex 3 died after 5 days use =/

I've currently got 4 OCZ SSD products, 3 agility 3's and a vertex 4, and all have been absolutely spot on.

Sad news indeed.

Sad to hear if they do go bust, Have always liked their gear and had less problems using OCZ stuff then any other manufacture.

I thought Toshiba were looking into buying them?

If they do disappear they won't be missed by me. I had a Vertex 2E that failed after a year. Sent it off for a RMA and bought my Sandisk to replace it. Got a brand new Vertex 2E as a replacement, sold it on another forums MM and that died 2 weeks later. Helped the chap i sold it to with the RMA and he got a brand new one back which also failed just over a month later.

I haven't used their SSD's but I really like their PSUs. I have had a few but the one I have now (a ZS) is wonderful, can't hear it, performs great, nice build quality.

Hopefully they wont disappear completely :)

I still need to send my PSU back for RMA, don't think I'll bother now. It'll be easier, quicker, and cheaper just to replace the fan for a silent one.
It's safe to say the remaining 3 years warranty is almost over
