So many 7700k threads but why no owners thread ?

Given Ian has already divulged that information due to them binning this generation, that's been covered already. Still, it's always nice to see what people are getting on various cooling. I'm hoping to stick mine on a chiller next month. The disparity there can be as much as 0.04v from ambient for vcore needed (that's before delidding)

If I had done one it would have been as much a bench thread as an owners thread but open only to 7700k and 7600k results.

Personally I don't know why anyone would want to draw attention to the fact that they've thrown good money after bad at Intel for a 7700K.

I will give it a miss then as I don't even own one myself.

Surprised you haven't had a dabble with the 7700K Kaap. I know you're more about the GPUs but it would be interesting to see how a highly clocked (~5.2ghz) 7700K would benchmark in games compared to the enthusiast grade chips, don't you think? :D

No more room for PCs.

I had to give a couple of old ones away before xmas so I could make some room.

Trying to tempt Kaap into buying a 7700K there fella. LOL :p

Looks like he didnt bite, try harder.

:p

I dont see the problem in an owners thread for this CPU, nought wrong with being proud of your hardware!

I know how similar the 7700 is to the 6700 and how Intel are milking it (sadly) but we have what we have and the processors are different (maybe slightly), or we'd not need some 170 boards flashed to accept the 7*** series would we?

Kaap is a good guy, a PC hardware enthusiast, all these suggestions of ee peen ETC are just silly, its a bit of light hearted ownership fun is all and it can help sort the wheat from the chaffe, when and if it comes to trouble shooting a particular CPU or indeed batch of those CPU's.

Kaap is an enthusiast and takes time out to help others, he gave helpful tips on my dead I7 5960X that I appreciated and I've seen him take time out to help others too, he deserved the Man of Honour title on these forums IMHO.

As it happens, when my I7 5960 CPU failed I could not be without a main rig, so ordered an overclocked I7 6700 bundle straight away while I sorted out the 5960X warranty, today I've ordered an I7 7700K overclocked bundle, a mere 4.8GHz will do me fine :) no need to hit the magic 5GHz for me :) I need a second high end PC you see.

But I'd happily sign up to a 7600/7700 owners thread if it existed, don't understand the fuss or whatever is going here?.

No one cares about such threads Kaap.

Boomstick is completely correct.

The same could be said of extreme overclocking and its various leaderboards. People do what makes them happy though, right? I find the ownership threads can at least be a valuable source of info when considering a purchase.
