So my University has its 'Freshers Week' details up...

Nix is spot on.

a lot of these freshers havent had this freedom before so they are crazy :p

But pretty much half way through 1st year you become skint, unless you get mummy and daddy to pay your phone bills/rent/other bills then you drink every night...

Some good people have to get part time job to keep the partying going....

Its not all it's cracked up to be, depends on who you make friends with, luckily I made a great few friends so its good. Its just normal life once you move into a house with them....

I don't go to uni - but I still intend to go up to meet some of my uni mates to party during freshers week :p

hahahaha that's brilliant. Quite surprising though as they're a good distance apart!

How bad is the damage?

Uni is great and everything but if I could turn back time Id join the navy instead, since its more fun than uni as you're only skint a few days of the month, theres less spoilt people up themselves, and instead of you and your mates renting that house you could be paying the mortgage instead.

what what?

Leeds freshers week is for 2 weeks not one, and this will be my 7th year going to freshers week. Might have to book a week off like i did a couple of years ago!

People who dont go to uni - doesnt mean you cant go to freshers week, a load of my mates didnt go to uni but still came up for a few days of freshers

I'm personally dreading freshers week a bit as I don't drink at all, and watching people getting drunk isn't fun for me. I'm predicting I'll just be stuck in my room playing games whilst everyone else is partying.

when me and Malt_Vinegar (& Smitho3) were in uni, we had freshers fortnight

I picked up a drink with what I assume is rohypnol in it, and can't remember a thing after 3 pints, felt really rotten for the whole first week :/

the second week was a blast though

i cant wait for my freshers, looking forward to this the most...

Westfield Shopping Lockdown with Zane Lowe

*****NO OTHER STUDENTS' UNION IN THE COUNTRY IS DOING THIS *****

A party in a shopping centre with Zane Lowe and the Home Taping tour. The night will consist of heavily discounted, exclusive, one-night-only offers; two shops will be turned into bars and clubs for the night and Zane Lowe from Radio 1 with his entourage of cool will be spinning the decks to get you 'bopping while your shopping' - an experience you'll never forget.

Excellent, more 18 year old filly. I'm such a dirty old man but I refuse to apologise.

Sacrilege! Which union is this you speak of?

Mismanaged is always the way :

In Liverpool, they had an untouchable winner. The redbrick uni's guild nights were well done.

On a Monday they attracted on average well over a thousand students, even in the middle "skint" times of each term. It was the only place on that day of the week which had appeal; it essentially had a monopoly that night. It was also cheaper than anywhere else too. They were doing so well; uni considered closing the Monday night event down because for years Tuesday morning's attendance was poor.

On Saturday they still averaged the same amount in the same way. Being the weekend they of course didn't have a monopoly, but, had a huge selling point in that they were student only. Add the fact that again they were cheaper than anywhere else and they for sure attracted well over a thousand people.

After the Capital of Culture award suddenly lots of new pubs and bars opened up. A few older ones were renovated and so among other things they had to raise drinks prices. Uni got greedy and did the same. Suddenly they weren't cheaper than everywhere else (vital if you think about who they want to attract) and not as attractive as these lovely new places. Hence unsurprisingly people ventured away. Add the fact that the guild's location is slightly awkward for a night out too.

That was a few years ago and they've never really had a reliable crowd since apparently.

hahahaha that's brilliant. Quite surprising though as they're a good distance apart!

They ripped up the pavement and such in front and covered it some sort of greenish dirt which I choose to believe is a secret stash. Probably be alright in the end, I just have no idea why they are ripping it up.

My Uni life was very much like the American Pie movies (Bristol undergrad, Nott'm Post-grad). It's very much what you make it. Freshers was alright, but always way too busy - I like busy, but I don't like waiting 25mins for a drink. :p

Well,

Monday - Disco type thingy with Reggie.
Tuesday - Rollerdisco somewhere.
Wednesday - Another night out at a club in Clapham that the Uni rents out.
Thursday - Few live bands but all unknowns and cover bands.
Friday - Comedy night with the Inbetweener bloke.
Satuday - 'Back to School'.

So yeah, thats it. Sigh.

Ooh, 18yo girls out en masse near SW15? Tell me more!

FFS it ****es me of when they hire these people to do 'DJ SETS'..

They know JACK about DJing and there just doing to make themselfs look good or whatever, they should hire real DJ's not some random TV presenters...

Reggie Yates is a Radio 1 DJ

He does TV on the side. He certainly isn't "some random".
