I just read the sidebar wont be a feauture on Windows 7.
Its one of the few features I like about Vista.

wonder why they are dropping it?

will you miss it ?

No side bar per se but you can drag your widgets onto anywhere on the desktop. So it's still there, you're just not restricted to where you have the bar.

It's a lot nicer IMHO.

Never used it. So no, definately won't be missing. As far as I'm concerned, the only reason it's there at all is to make my desktop look untidy.

I never "got" the Vista Sidebar anyway. It just seemed like a complete waste of screen space.

Although I don't "get" the new W7 Taskbar either :D

nathan

the taskbar is awesome once you start using it properly -ie, with the previews etc

i was a little sceptical at first, but it is much better

The sidebar is cool imo, I use it a lot for monitoring ram cpu network torrent usage etc. Some boring people in this thread! :p Do you want Vista to look like 95 or something?

Never found gadgets in any way useful, or anything more than a waste of system resources and an eyesore on screen, so I don't mind either way.

Eh? it uses <50mb ram and most people here have at leats 6GB. It's good to see other app ram/core usage though and much more like notes and other gadgets.

Task Manager says my sidebar is using 34Mb of RAM and flucates between 00 and 01% usage. Something I can live with tbh as I do have a fair few gadgets. I think the old "it uses loads of resources" malarky is BS imo enless I was on a pretty slow CPU and <1Gb RAM.

I have to say I'm a fan of the sidebar, useful for drive info, cpu usage, ram, network speeds etc and nice large clock.
