I might use the sidebar if I could figure how to get it to pin to the desktop, using show desktop all the time means I never get to see it. Anyone know how?

Right click Sidebar > Properties > tick the box that says "
side bars is always on top of other windows"

On vista if you just click the sidebar icon on the task bar it will bring the sidebar to the front (until you click off it). Works better than having it always on top if you have your windows maximised etc.
