Somewhere in the middle.
After lots of people having conflicting views on fashions, sunbeds, metrosexuals and "gay"...

Many people get called geeks,

I know its a computer forum so we are all geeky in that respect, but who actually looks like the kind of geek you would see in a film.

Im talking about someone that might be skinny, pasty, bad hair, glasses, atari tshirts, crap with women... you get the picture :)

Me personally..

Im skinny, boney, pretty pale (although not after being baked on a sunbed), and i have life outside the pc.

how about you? :)

I used to be really bad (skinny, pale, geeky t-shirts, never left computer room), but after I got a girlfriend she managed to get me back into the light. I still am more geeky than most people I know but its controllable now :D

EDIT: Something I forgot, is that I still laugh and point out to my wife every time the clock hits 13:37. Sad but she finds it funny and I can't help it :(

I don't really look like a geek...I don't think anyway.

Most stuff I know the most about tends to be PC related in some fashion...Hell I've been interested in them since I as 14 or something hardware wise...And gaming wise before that.

But I am reasonably skinny, not really pale, and my dress sense tends to not be 'Geeky' :p

But I have a life out of computers fankfully, I travel to Europe a fair amount, and I cycle and skate when I can, along with other activities..

So hey :)

I am more like the comic book guy geek in the simpsons rather than the nerds that are always on the PC.

However I have slightly more hair than comic book guy and no pony tail.

Im pretty nerdy...although Im 186cm with a pretty big build which doesnt really fit the "nerd" stereotype, Im still proud to pull the "There are only 10 kinds of people in this world, those who understand binary...and those who dont" sorta jokes and laugh at them. The missus shakes her head ofc, but being an archeologist she most certainly is a geek! :p When it comes to clothes though, whatever is comfortable for normal day to day routines but suit and tie at work :)

Nope only really a geek when I am around other geeks and start talking geek talk.

KaHn

I used to look really really geeky. But i started to up image by hittin the gym and buyin myself some decent clothes.

Still a geek at heart 100% though. :D

I don't look like a geek. I've allowed myself to get a gut so that my wife doesn't have to worry so much about the ladies wanting a piece of the action but other than that no visible signs. Underneath the surface I'm getting nerdier though. I'm no pretty boy either (like many of OCuks preening, hair straightening lady boys).

I like techy stuff, PC games and radio control models, which is all pretty nerdy but I also love snowboarding and wakeboarding which isn't so nerdy and I certainly have a life outside case windows, UV lighting and overclocking!

You are.

I'm sorry :D

BTW Kittens I was under the impression that you were a woman :O

I guess you could say I am a geek, but barely anyone in my real life knows it :)

I have an inner-geek.

From the outside, I'm tall, dashing, handsome, funny, etc etc (no, really :D), I like the sunshine, exercise and socialising with total non-geeks, but every now and then something tweaks my inner-geek and I go all wobbly and strange.

hahahaha, what he said. I have an inner geek too, that likes to come out every once in a while.

I think the boundaries between geekdom (or at least, the old-fashioned notion of it) and 'normality' are being somewhat blurred nowadays. The idea of sitting down at a computer for more than half an hour used to be severely frowned upon in some circles, never mind actually talking to people online. Whereas now it seems like every ****er is on Facebook and the like, and if you mention "mp3" most people under the age of 30 will know what you are on about, something which couldn't be said 5+ years ago.

Sure, you still get 'pure' geeks who do nothing but sit around in the same clothes for days on end, never leaving the house, munching on snacks and playing games until the small hours. But it seems much more acceptable to be a semi-geek such as myself these days. Especially working in an IT environment where it quite refreshing to think that there are people I'm working with far more geeky than myself!

I don't look like your average geek. I dress well, have a muscular build, play plenty of sport and socialise with a variety of people. I used to play a lot of games but I guess I've grown out of that. I do paint/play minatures though.

Not skinny, not bad hair. dont wear geeky tops.
have a big life outside of PCs.

That last sentence completely overshadows everything you said before it I'm afraid. You are geek incarnate. ;)
