So who is getting Quad 6600 then at this new price?

Funny that same thing happened with the Opterons, they were hidden away to the sides and referred to as 'that server chip'

I've only encountered Xeons in big servers before, never thought we see the Xeon processor make it into a gaming machine, although a few hardcore geeks have been using them for F@H for a couple of years now.

I'm looking more at the DDR2 prices atm, may have to stock up! :D

One word. Not worth it if you have already got a E6600 or some other conroe.
 
Hi , what would be safe volts for one of the q6600 cpu's under average water cooling do you think , also is 1.1v default stock on these

Great. So what about those of us that ordered the original version of the TWO offer last Thursday at £366.59 and no games but had to wait until late Monday afternoon for dispatch?

I won't even get mine until tomorrow due to late dispatch and the PO closing half day today.

"These chips won't be going any cheaper next week. These are our price cut prices." was pretty much what you told us last week dude.

Think i might to have to try water with this chip since it is so hot ... don't really have a clue about it as well but it is really needed i think if you plan on putting any kind of volts through it.

I have 1.47 through this for 3.2 and within a minute of running orthos i'm hitting temps of 72 and 68 and that is just stressing two cores..i've also tried reseating the ninja.

Hi , just put mine in and temps are showing like 16 degrees using asus probe and same in bios , what to do ??
 
Depends whether you want it to drop the speed and voltage to save power during low use.

And it would have been a reason for the low temps.

What do CoreTemp and TAT say?
 
Hi , core temp says 45 idle compared to probe saying 17 thats at 3.15Gig and 1.36volts , i think thats closer to the truth

Where can you get a version of tat to work with vista?
