So who is getting Quad 6600 then at this new price?

Well I'm liviing with it now with a 6400 @3.8ghz that has 2mb cache and a 8800 GTS that has 320MB ram.

"Interested who with 6600's etc...will be selling them on to make way for this little beauty?"
H'mm just after the extra 2gb of cache with a really good Batch No ?

I doubt anyone with a good stepping E6600 would sell for any less than £200, I woudnt thats for sure regardless of how the prices are plumetting.

The more people that don't pay £360 for a quad-core the sooner the prices will drop

Still can't help feeling that Quad-Core is a marketing gimmick, Do INTEL and AMD think we are a nation of hard-core multitaskers and video-encoders, why don't they start releasing stuff like a 4GHz CPU or something that just benefits almost everything out the box?

I think its funny how they release a great product, everybody goes 'WOW' and the buzz on the forums is immense, quite a few people shell out a large sum of money and build themselves a kickass system, but then comes along a new product and somehow a fair few people get 'brainwashed' and decide that their uber system is now 'old tech' and they set their minds to work on how to upgrade their already perfect system.

I gotta take my hat off to INTEL/AMD etc, they really do know how to sell.

I know a lot of people enjoy building a new system, tweaking, benching etc but I just wonder what % of people upgrade for upgrades sake? Its starting to bore the *** out of me lol :D

i do want one but cant afford one right now, and the only game out that makes use of 4 cores is supcom, which needs at least 2 to run smoothly in big battles.

Whats the Max Multiplier on the new Q6600 ?

EDIT: sorry I really must search harder....9x
