So why do you guys spend so much time on the internet?

is it your job?

a lust for information?

its never ending porn collection?

For me its gotta be because of the people you meet and the way everyone is :)

so why are you guys always online?

Undoubtedly.

Also like helping people out, and forums are the perfect way to voice an opinion and recommend products to people, also suppose GD can be ok for advice every once and a while.

Its the people that makes the interwebbie for me, the content gets very repetative after a few years, but the people are always fresh and most seem to be friendly. :)

because some of my closest friends are online most of the time, friends across the country due to moving/uni/etc so the best and easiest way is on the interweb.

To talk to friends online and to see what other peoples views are on things which is where this GD forum helps a lot. Some ppl i know don't really have opinions on a lot of things that interest me so coming here helps that part out.

Apart from that I seek knowledge, you can never know too much imo. Its just deciding who to tell what you know where you make the mistake.

Edit: fixed spelling damn laptop keyboard

I use the net for the usual stuff - keeping in contact with people, research, work etc. I use forums to avoid doing anything useful when I'm bored :P (Hence why my postcount shoots up in the summer ;))

I don't have anything else to be doing at the moment, I'm on summer holidays from uni, it is a Sunday and it is too hot to be tempting to do anything much outside ergo I'm reading the forums.

Sure the information is interesting too and I can find out about pretty much subject I care to name with a well chosen search which is handy. The people who frequent this forum are also a good source of amusement(whether intentional or not) a lot of the time and for the most part seem to be pretty sound as well.

Because its interesting and a great source of information. Its also good for stumbling across things such as music that you've never heard of, cheap deals on all sorts of products, and other random stuff that you never would have known about unless you happened to be on a particular website.
Its also good for talking to all sorts of people with endless experiences, with this forum being a good example.
And its good for learning about random stuff whenever you want.

I use the net for the following (in some semblance of order):

Send emails
Download stuff
Play poker and blackjack
To get news
Be sarcastic to people on OcUK
Ask for help on OcUK
.
.
.
.
.
Give help/offer advice on OcUK

Procrastination I guess.
I won't be here for long, I've got my dissertation to do before xmas, 8 weeks consultancy work in manchester starting in a week, and plenty of other things.

The forums are good to get an instant answer to a question. People are on here 24/7 365

interesting responses from a lot of people, most seem to be because of the people they meet on the net etc.

The Internet, as I like to sum it up, is "The world stored in bytes".

It's basically an electronic form of communication, entertainment and freedom which you can alter or search to suit your needs, whatever they may be at that moment in time.

So, I suppose it can act as an alternative reality and a bigger, less personal bond between everyone on the planet. I also use it for web development, emailing and all the other usual stuff, of course.

because i work from 10pm to 7am in a call centre. been doing this night shift for 2 weeks and i've taken less than 10 calls and the call centre itself hasn't had more than 20 in that time.
i just need something to do.

its the easyest way to build my army and take over the world... so far i have found that i shouldnt start world domination from OcUK, because once we get there, we are likely not want to leave!
