Social media

I've never found social media an issue to be honest. Perhaps a little too much on my phone but when some folk say they've moved away from social media because they find it too toxic, I almost don't get it. I guess it's probably because they've gravitated to that toxicity in the first place, whether deliberate or not.

This. It's only what you make it. I've never had toxic vibes from my Instagram feed. It's just sport, music, games, movies, space, nature, food and animals. The odd nice bottom pops up occasionally too.

I have Facebook purely for access to the marketplace and a couple of groups. Delete Instagram and Twitter. Complete drain of my energy and total waste of time. Only culminated in worsening my anxiety!

As regards insta well I went with the private account for a while but some of the people I really wanted to follow understandably I suppose had their minions running it so it just felt sterile
Edit I suppose I haven't ditched it yet as 3 weeks into the months notice needed
You were paying for it lol?

I don't bother with social media and have just left my accounts to lie dormant.

I do log into Facebook once every couple of months out of curiosity but this simply reminds me why I don't bother with it.

Just a couple of forums that I use are the main things. I do occasionally open a Facebook / Twitter account under a pseudonym when a company doesn't have a proper website and force you to interact with them through social media. Usually close it down quite soon after.

It's amazing how sexualised a lot of it is now. I've reported a few posts on Facebook and Instagram that had boobs in (wet t-shirt where you could see everything was one) but computer said no and apparently that was fine. Also kept being recommended to be friends with what were obviously OnlyFans girls or escorts. :D

Nuked my FB about 6 years ago, that was the only 'social media' account I had. Didn't miss it, as it had become one of the last things I trawled at night, and the same come the morning - my Wife still has hers, but clearly suffers having it; often getting very upset with the lack of 'likes' on photos of our daughter.

I only have Facebook, and I only use that for information on cars from owner groups

Pretty much the same. My friends list is less than 100 now and only use it for the car groups or other hobby groups which is a shame as I much prefer forums like this one.

I never had twitter or Instagram as it never made any sense to me.

I am hoping for a resurgence in forums as Facebook is just full of adds and rubbish now.

Anyone done the same as me and deleted all accounts?

I feel so much better for it but my finger still goes to the spot on my phone where the app was :)

I only use this forum and linkedin. But even then I barely have time to give it a lot of attention.

If I need anything from my friends I call them or pop round to see them.

FB- still have an account for keeping in touch with old friends and some groups/pages
Twitter- I still use though my interest is waning with the way its going in the last year or so. Real shame as it was useful.
IG- have an account but never use.
Reddit- useful for certain topics.
Don't use any other social media.

Social media is where people go to post pictures of their food, and selfies of them pouting like a duck, why would I use it?

Because it’s a very quick and easy way to stay in touch/keep track of what's happening in the lives of friends and family, especially if they are on the other side of the world etc.

Personally, I think the negative effects of social media outweigh the positive effects but the positives and reasons for people using it are pretty obvious.
