Sofa shop recommendations

Just bumping this as I'm currently on the hunt for a new sofa. I've read some reviews of ones we like on John Lewis and they seem to say the build quality is bad. Has something changed? My current one is from Harveys and I've had it nearly 6 years but it needs replacing.
We bought a sofa and chair from next, the chair just came a week ago but we've had the sofa since before Christmas.

Up to now I'm very impressed with the quality of it, it's very comfortable and the stores have small swatches you can take home (free) of your favourites. Just make sure you go to a large store to see and test the whole range.

I'm old fashioned and like my bum at the back of the seat with my feet on the floor, something I'm not able to do with many of the trendy designs and I'm not short. Until they opened the new shop in the old Debenhams at the MetroCentre the smaller shops just had a small selection on display and I found them all to be the uncomfortable trendy type so had almost dismissed next as an option.

I got mine from Sofology. It was delivered earlier than estimated. Showed no obvious signs of wear after 3 years. Very happy with it.

They weren't up for bargaining on the price at all though, and there was no incentive to pay cash so just did 3 years interest free with a £50 deposit.

Ours was from Sofology (I think before they renamed) and has been just fine for many years.

We just ordered a new sofa for the new house from JL.

Just bought a sofa from Dwell the Ankara 2, I wanted a 3 seater but as the arms didn't come off that wouldn't get in (if I measured correctly) but the 4 seater would fit as the arms come off.

Do you mind me asking how have you found the Ankara 2 since you purchased it? How is the quality.

My wife has found this one online and wants to order 2 x 3 seater Ankara 2 in blue velvet for our lounge but I can't find too much information on quality of their sofas.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

We had it delivered yesterday so I can only give you one days worth of review. The quality looks excellent and very comfy we got the blue velvet one as well which is a lovely material. It shows cat hair up quite well but we've been told just wipe down with a rubber glove and they come off easy. I'm not too worried about cat hair though as its one of the joys of owning them. Slight drama with delivery as the delivery firm didn't realise the arms come off and don't do that and it wouldn't go in the lift so I took delivery in the foyer as didn't want to organise a redelivery. So 6 floors later via the stairs with some friends.

So the 8 - 9 week lead time they state looks pretty accurate then given you only took delivery yesterday.

Well glad to know that you got it and it looks good and is comfortable. We will take the plunge and get them ordered.

I certainly don't envy the efforts for you getting it up to your flat!! Luckily we will have them coming into a downstairs lounge with easy access!!

Just throwing two suppliers in as I haven’t seen them mentioned, (I’m not endorsing them btw)...

SCS
Fabb Furniture (think they used to be AHF)

Laura Ashley - I know they’ve gone but their furniture range was taken over by ‘next’ and Next label it as the Laura Ashley range so it’s easy to find

We bought all ours from M&S weren't cheap but everyone has asked where we got them as they do look stunning.
May I ask what model? My girlfriend has her eye on the Sophia in antique leather/teak but it's very hard to judge on website pictures. Looking for a dark brown distressed leather, in a chesterfield style. They have a sale on until Tues but we can't get to a showroom this weekend :( May just take the plunge and order seen as you can cancel up to 3 days before delivery free of charge (apparently?).

Got 2 of these

One in red and the other in purple.

Got 1 of these in grey

And then got a matching foot stool.

Our feet on the loveseat are different I don't know if it was an upgrade but ours has wheels at the front and normal legs at the back.

Yes it's a Mish mash we went bland contemporary Scandinavian on one side and more traditional and bright on the other. Our living room has a lot of wood not just the floors but a wall too as well as table, subwoofer and speakers. A lot of colour in terms of limited edition prints on the walls and recently added a purple rug to match the love seat for the baby to roll about on.

Bump. Anyone used Swyft or any of the sofa-in-a-box companies? Usually I'd think the whole in-a-box thing is just a gimmick - in fact I do think that for the hundreds of online mattresses etc. But to me, it kinda makes sense. Especially as places like DFS have a crazy lead time of 14 weeks and they'll charge you 20% if it doesn't fit through the door!

We quite like the look of the Swyft model 2. Surely with 100 day free returns it's worth a punt. And even if we hate it, we can continue to use it for 100 days whilst we get a replacement on the way from elsewhere. Win win, no?
