I didn't get batteries because we are lucky enough to have 1:1 net metering so the grid is like a giant battery with no roundtrip efficiency loss. I already had a standby generator when I got the solar panels or I might have got some storage for backup purposes though.

aaaahhhhhh I see, storage wise I was more thinking of for when the sun goes down rather than backup power as that is a lot extra on top of the bog standard storage. Not needed if export is worth more than import though lol

How do you switch to just the gas tracker? I thought you would have to take both electricity and gas?
 
Just had our install finished. Already generated 6.2kwh in just over 2 hours. Batteries are full. Shame that most of it is being exported to the grid for free at the moment lol.

Did you have to phone up to be able to do this? I filled in the online form yesterday and got all the way to submit but at no point did it ask me which utility I was applying for. I don't want to accidentally move them both onto that!

no i did it with the online form.....Looks like the form has changed now, it used to ask which service you require, leccy, gas or both

i discussed it here. I rang octopus and they told me i needed to be on both. After the call they then sent me an email apologising and stating that i can be on gas tracker solely and sorry for the miss information

i'm not counting my chickens, until it goes dark lol......one good hour and you'll go above me lol

But according to the current forecast, we dont see anymore cloud here until next tuesday, but time will tell how true that is. No rain until Tuesday 13th
