Solar panel production figures

Just to say, I was advised you should not wash your panels with tap water. Although I guess where you live will make a lot of difference.
If you wash panels with tap water you risk covering them in calcium as the water evaporates.
I was told the same, but we are in a hard water area. I've never washed my original panels, and they have been installed for nearly eighth years now.

you have lots of history, was May exceptional this year?
Out of the last five years it's the second best, currently my SolarEdge system is sitting at 606kWh, best year was 2020, which was exceptional at 713. I'm at work so only looking on the app rather than logging in to the web dashboard which goes all the way back, I would say it's an above average May.

If you want to look the entire data is uploaded to PV Output, click on the combined system, then there is an option to see the two separate systems.

Figures for the month:

  • Generated: 1325.15 kWh
  • Exported: 1117.69 kWh
  • Imported: 505kWh
  • Average daily generation: 42.75 kWh

The SolarEdge system ended at 634.26kWh (included in the above), which compares to my best ever month of 712.5 in 2020, making this the second best May since installation back in December 2015.

This month based on the SE system has been better than any previous June, best June figure for that system is 629.5 kWh last year. The best July figure, also last year 635.5 kWh, so unless we have exceptional weather don't expect better months this year, August is worse, over seven years the highest I had was 579 in 2016, and the lowest was 467 in August 2021.

i'm not counting my chickens, until it goes dark lol......one good hour and you'll go above me lol

But according to the current forecast, we dont see anymore cloud here until next tuesday, but time will tell how true that is. No rain until Tuesday 13th
The weather in Wales is going to get really bad next week, one of my colleagues is on holiday there next week.

Speaking of which what's the general view on keeping the panels clean. Mine are covered in a thin layer of sand/dust/whatever the crap was floating around over the last couple of weeks. I was going to hose them down/brush them off but we're in a hard water area and I'm sure I spotted somewhere it's not recommended as you run the risk of building up limescale so better to just wait for rain.
I was told not to wash them with tap water - also a hard water area.

On another note.....we still dont have any sun, even though the BBC, ITV and the Met office are stating full sun in Wales. Must be New South Wales and Not UK Wales

I did warn you the weather was going turn bad once my colleague arrived in Wales on holiday.

Highly recommend if you’re a net exporter and can set your battery to dump its charge during peak. 7.8kwh system with Tesla powerwall

I dump about 18 kWh during peak from solar and battery :D
