Solar panel production figures

My curve plummet from 13:40 :-(

I corrected that for you :p

I have a slight difference between my Solis and GivEnergy readings, I put it down to the solis reading DC and the GivEnergy reading AC via a CT clamp which is likely to have a bit of tolerance. Sometimes they are pretty close, others they can be a bit out.

Likewise when I check my GivEnergy export reading vs my smart meter, my smart meter is consistently higher by a few %.

It’s all within an acceptable margin of error mind.

My Solaredge total has always read higher than the generation meter. I have an ET112 energy meter on the Solaredge cable, so the Victron can see what it's generating and that is very accurate when compared to the generation meter. The Victron system is always 5% over on import and export compared to the smart meter, so I always use the smart meter readings, which HA can access.

I think one of the differences is the Solaredge reports actual generation but the inverter uses some power itself so what the generation meter and ET112 see is what's left over. Yesterday the SE dashboard reported 13.2 kWh and my Victron system reported 12.8 kWh, but that's only 400 wH and I'm sure the inverter would use more than that, so likely other inaccuracies, perhaps caused by measuring the DC generation as you say.

CT clamps are pretty poor at reading low currents, and I'm guessing the Victron Quattro uses CT clamps internally to monitor what I'm drawing from the grid, hence it's inaccuracies.

How have you managed to get home assistant to read your smart meter data in real time?

I’ve got an Octopus home mini on mine and it can read import ‘live’ but not export. My neighbour has a home mini on his and he can see live import and export but he has a different smart meter.
I use a Hilderbrand Glow IHD, it doesn't give live export power (see below), so that figure for HA is taken from my Victron system. HA connects to the Glow display via MQTT, as it does to the Victron system as well.

Some smart meters have a bug in their firmware that means they don't report live export power, they only report live import power. You get access to all the kWh/meter readings though throughout the day.

Yesterday our electric was minus £3.20 :D

Not quite as good today, clouds came in at 15:15 and generation plummeted off a cliff, but still a respectable amount generated and exported.

SolarEdge: 10.5 kWh
Garage: 6.76 kWh
North west roof: 4.71 kWh
House rear wall: 5.07 kWh
Peak power was 6.07 kW at 12:54

Total generated today: 27.04 kWh
Total exported today: 33.175 kWh
Total imported today: 23.52kWh

I'll still get a Heat Geek quote, along with Octopus and BG, maybe some other independent installers. Although we have a bigish house, we're a bit tight on space for the tank, the Heat Geek combi tank would likely be ideal. Octopus also have the Cosy 10 coming next year. I'll have to do a heat survey on Heat Punks sometime soon.

On topic we're well down the live charts, I'll have bring some of this Menorca sun back.

We flew back from Menorca this afternoon, flight was delayed due to a bad thunderstorm in Menorca, then when we flew over London and came down to land at Stansted we hit cloud at 12,000 ft and finally broke through it at 2000 ft, so that was about 10,000 ft, that's almost a 2 mile thickness of cloud, no wonder we didn't do well today!

SolarEdge: 2 kWh
Garage: 2.56 kWh
North west roof: 2.51 kWh
House rear wall: 0.45 kWh
Peak power was 3.61 kW at 14:20

Total generated today: 7.52 kWh
Total exported today: 14.751 kWh
Total imported today: 23.442kWh

@xxalxx Its possibly not reported, but post up what system you have and people may know. Was going to say that's a really good generation for this time of year, but then spotted your location as it looked just too good.

Not sure if its the same in Australia but we can get the export from our smart meters, I use HA and another device to directly read my smart meter, my inverter does report it but the smart meter is more accurate and what I'm billed by.

Today's figures:

SolarEdge: 3.3 kWh
Garage: 3.6 kWh
North west roof: 3.56 kWh
House rear wall: 0.75 kWh
Peak power was 4.20 kW at 9:49

Total generated today: 11.21 kWh
Total exported today: 15.352 kWh
Total imported today: 24.349kWh

Monthly figures:

SolarEdge: 240.5 kWh
Garage: 204.14 kWh
North west roof: 177.38 kWh
House rear wall: 99.43 kWh

We used to have that argument years ago about efficiency, I had an efficient system back then, I've got a large inefficient system now, so it's size that matters now :p

The two oldest systems I think are Give me sunshine (2013) and By the seaside (2014), not checked all in our team though.
