Hi all. Anybody used a solar power bank that can recommend one? Going to a festival and it would be hella useful.

TIA

Most of the cheaper ones are a bit rubbish with the built in solar panel taking days to do anything other than a small emergency charge - better off with a separate solar panel and a good power bank (although not all of them like being charged from solar without manually restarting charging if the sun goes in).

Annoyingly *elsewhere* no longer sell the stuff I've found works best such as the Portapow 15W panels - there seems to be a Anker clone of it but no idea if it is as good.

This. I've tried one or two solar chargers and they were pathetic charging back up.

My EC Technology power bank holds 21,000mAh. It can charge my phone up at least 4 times. A couple of these power banks should see your gadgets charged up for more than a couple of days.

I also somewhat doubt the 24000mAh claim for the one linked above - I've got a similar size one that uses top of the line Samsung "A+" grade cells and its 15000mAh at close to the max power density possible and costs a lot more. It has similar solar capabilities (3.5W 700mAh) and takes a good 2 days of moderate to good sunshine to offset a single cell phone charge.

Thanks guys. Looking into it and taking your replies into account. I may just get a couple 20KmAh Anker powebanks instead.

Search the *elsewhere* for B302100102 - it's what I have I am more than happy with it, especially for the price. I bought it primarily for the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 port which charges my phone as fast as a mains charger.

i would just buy an Anker power bank.

you can get a 20,000 mAh for £40. A Samsung S8 has a 3000 mAh battery so that is over 6 full charges.

Another vote for the Anker power banks, got a 10k one and never actually used it all in one go :p

I have never found a solar one to work well. Get a few high power banks and turn off wifi/bluetooth on your phone.

When you do charge put it in airplane mode

If you're worried about how long it will last, turn your phone off while charging with the Anker power bank and yoully be fine for days. Mine lasted 5 days at a festival, and wasn't depleted when I went home.

Correct, but I thought it best to follow the rules:
