Sold an item on bay and sold within a few mind.. however..

Just tell him to pay via eBay and that your PayPal details are held with eBay so they should not bother him at all.

If not, cancel the sale and notify eBay.

Just tell him to go to his basket and press buy now and go through eBay that way, he doesn’t need any details at all from you, you will be charged the 10% selling fee or whatever it is but least you are covered that way. You won’t be covered if you do things direct and “outwith” of eBay. Had a lot of experiences with scammers it’s not nice

Should I be worried?

I "sold" my laptop on eBay, however the person that bought it at full asking without making an offer sent message asking to kindly give paypal address and correspond via email.

This seems dodgy to me and he has 4 positive feedback stetchest over since 2002, last used in 2016.

I was actually going to post about using the bay and if it's reslly worth it due to them always siding with the buyer even if seller isn't at fault

Am I right to think this is a dodgy buyer?

Sounds dodgy as! Avoid, it's likely to be a scam.

I would imagine that they have access to a compromised PP account, and by paying you directly via PP (maybe via PP gift), you will lose the money, once the fraud has been discovered - I believe that's how it works from past instances I have read about.

I'd be tempted to cancel the order, listing it as there was a fault or something, and re-list it again. Make sure to block the buyer this time around, and maybe configure your eBay to only allow bidders with 10+ feedback - you should be able to find out how via Google.

If it all went awry, eBay would likely wash their hands of it, and you'll be down £900!

Personally I would give him my PayPal address and when the money has been sent just say you cannot see any funds, then say you contacted eBay and they cannot see anything to suggest he paid.

That's just me though, I like to troll the scamming scum.

Wait I'd get free money then Is that illegal?

What free money? Can't see anything going through eBay :O

What I'm saying is they are willingly trying to con you, so just use the correct system procedures against them. It's written in black and white and pretty self evident you pay through eBay via PayPal.

I'm not suggesting you to take the money, but I'd definitely try to scare the **** out of them for attempting to scam me by all means possible.

Of course I'd report them to eBay/PayPal after validating it :D
