Careful with the BlackBook - it attracts prints and dust like magnet and iron filling. White is the way, cheaper and less prone to grease prints and white dirts. :D

I used PC since 99 and switched over 6weeks ago. No regrets.

I'm amazed at how quick Windows boots inside of Parallels, it must be within 20 seconds or so to get to the desktop. Almost removes the inconvenience of having to use a Windows-only program.

To me the white one has always seemed more posery and it stand out like its trying to say "ohh laa dee daa im a macbook, look at me" and that really bugs me, as my main reason why ive always hated apple is the apple users who consider themselves to be superior to windows users (/rant over)

Plus the black one looks so much nicer and more stylish. any black owners care to chime in about the dirt and fingerprint issue?

About the CS3 thing..

That's one of the main reasons I decided against a Mac Pro when I had the cash ; I didn't fancy buying one and running CS2 in Rosetta and waiting aaaaaaaages for CS3; Because obviously by the time it comes out there'll be something better out :(

I've made my mind up now anyway.. officially saving for the 2x 3GHz Mac Pro with a 30 inch LCD. Hopefully sometime after January so I can catch any announcements regarding new products.

Funny, I thought I was the only one who'd sold a Mac and regretted it. Seems like there are a fair few users who've done the same - I feel less like a fool now :p

About the Blackbook... STAY AWAY from BLACK.

I used my friends one, and aside from looking nice it was prone to constant smudging and the "greasy keys syndrome" commonly found on laptops with black keys. I'd take the white anyday.. same as the iPod really.

off topic, but just curious, when using PArallels or Bootcamp on a Mac can you access the same files in XP, on the same partition as you can in OSX? or do you have to have 2 seperate partitions. I have no clue how its works, could someone please explain? :)

Bootcamp sets up another partition on which Windows is installed. It also assists you in burning the driver CD you'll need for your Mac's hardware.

Parallels, essentially, runs Windows as a guest operating system within OS X. As such it does not need its own partition. However, it does not run at native speeds, especially with games. For office apps it'd be fine but to play games you'd need to use boot camp.

Macbook with PArallels or Bootcamp = job done. No need to buy a PC ever again.
I'd best not mention that PC you've got then. :p

Sadly my Mac Mini is running Windows almost full-time these days. Just can't get the software I want to use to run on OSX. I'm sure it'll happen eventually, and when it does, Windows will be gone. I like OSX lots, but Windows is my day job, so Windows it has to be. :(

My 2 cents -

I just returned my black Macbook for refund. :( :(

It picked up fingerpints after a couple of hours of light use, it was very hot
(could get to 75 C just surfing) and it made a high pitched whine. My mate's white one randomly shut down due to the heat and has just recently died after 4 months of use. We were unlucky I guess, the are two Macbook pros at work that are neither hot or noisy.
cheers,
Solp

Sorry to hear that, but just to balance the scales a bit:

I've had my white MacBook for about two weeks now. I have experienced no palmrest discolouration, no random shutdowns, no mighty-morphin' magsafe connectors, no plastic film over the vent, no battery warping, no "mooing" noises and no backlight bleeding. Delivery time was impressive (two days to ship — with an upgraded hard drive and DVI adapter — then five days to my door), the screen is fantastic, performance is certainly more-than-adequate, OS X is a godsend and to top it all off... it looks downright gorgeous. It gets a little toasty whilst charging (~50°C), but nothing unbareable.

Here's hoping it doesn't develop any problems, but as it stands I am one very happy Apple customer :)

So say I have bootcamp with a mp3 on the XP partition, when Im in OSX will I be able to play that mp3 and vice versa. Or would I have to have a 3rd partition formated with something like "ntfs" but one that both OS's can read/access?

You'll be able to read the MP3 on the XP NTFS partition, yes. But if you had one on the Mac HFS+ partition, you can't see that in Windows.

Macdrive6 allows Windows XP to read and write to the Mac HFS+ partition... it costs $50, but ive been using it for a couple of weeks and it works perfectly.
