Sold the F-Type V8S - Replaced with something subtle ;)

Love the car but would never put that combination of interior and exterior colours together myself though. Slightly unusual combination....not that I imagine you'd care once you opened the taps!

this is nice but that colour not sure.. black would probably be better.. DAT JAG IMO was better.. who cares what the price of the car is if you're enjoying it? why does it matter that JAG made it cheaper for others to buy? why does it matter than its common? I don't get it..

Is this chopping and changing common at this end of the market? I can see the used car adverts for 5 year old Ferrari's now - Full service history, 25000 miles, 36 careful owners :p

I see what you are getting at with regards to resale but seriously if that is a big enough concern to get you changing cars again so soon are you really best off continuing to buy modern sports/supercars? They are all going to drop money at a fairly hefty rate.

Nope sorry, preferred the jag. Or should've splashed out more on a 458!

Honestly the Jag while a great car will never be an exotic. Why would I buy an inferior car to the MP4 for more than twice the price of what I just paid?!

I can't say the value is what made me change, it's just one factor. The jag was a good car but it is very heavy, the chassis is dead and there's not much character to it. Basically it lacked any sense of occasion.

I lose very little if any when changing. I'm a car enthusiast, I have no brand loyalty and believe in trying as many as I can :)

I kind of agree. Surely if you can afford to buy such exotic cars, you can afford not to be too bothered by depreciation?

Thats not a criticism, I can understand if you just want to experience as many cars as possible and therefore get rid of them quickly to avoid their value falling before you move on. But I cant see it being a prime motivation to change cars, for someone in your position.

Still...worrying about the resale of such cars must be a nice worry to have, so im still bloody jealous :p

Edit...you pretty much answered my questions above as I was posting.

It tends to be like this in every thread.

Gets new car, it's amazing, laps up the compliments. Few months later, said car is crap and full of flaws as a new car is bought.

Rinse repeat.

He doesn't post in any other threads either. Just comes on forum to post pictures of new car. I know the guy is liked by members but it does strike me as, image is most important and that getting attention is key.

Beanys on my Facebook and I'm sure he commented on the post where iceman said his girlfriend had bought him a new car.

You're entitled to your opinion but your post is full of incorrect information.

I have never once said the cars I've owned before are "crap". All cars have negatives, people ask why I traded so I give them answers. Would you like me to tell you how my 430 is also not that great in places? I have 2/3 flaws with the car that I could easily talk about - no-one has come up with the perfect car yet and thank god they haven't.

Second, I post only where I feel I can give useful input. You'll see I've given advice in a few threads in the motors forums and I actually used to be a very active member in the computer hardware sections. It's no skin off my nose, nor will it ruin my day if I stop posting new cars here. I do it because I thought members here liked to see the cars, if not, I will not post another car here again.

Lastly, there's a large difference between girlfriend and wife. I have the latter. As strange as it may seem, we work as a team, we buy things together. I'm really not sure how you got "thank you to my wife" as "my wife bought me a Ferrari". We discuss every major purchase and we achieve them together, that's what works for us. Besides, who cares if my wife did actually buy it outright? I'd classify that as being a lucky man!!

I know you edited this but I wanted to answer the first part anyway.

I don't care how wealthy you are, at least from my perspective, I can't afford to throw money down the drain. Yes I lose money trading cars but I'd like to lose as little as possible! I'm not made of money, I live a quite modest life actually, I just prioritize :)

Nice car Dave, Very Floridian!

A guy on the UK GTR forum bought a F-type V8, owned it for less than a week and is now back in a GTR due to all the problems he had with it. (thread here)

Did you have any issues at all or just wanted out as you said?

I have to admit I think I am starting to miss a real manual gearbox, even though I am no race driver there is something nice about actually changing gear yourself.
I don't really want any more power in my car so may look at doing something different next year also.
You also have the MP4 though so best of both with the F430 now!

I had a couple of silly issues, most notably the paint defect which causes paint to chip off on the panel joins at the rockers on black and green paint. The other one was the passenger door catching the bonnet every time I opened it, causing paint damage.

Please carry on, I love these threads and that is a stunning motor. Yellow is also the colour that I'd get.

Haters get jealous, best to ignore them.

Lol at the guy who said 'I don't like ferraris', ever driven one ?

Meh at yellow though, I mean... Would you drive a yellow mondeo ?, nope... And as exotic as it is it's still a yellow car :-)

Yellow is a strange colour when you think about it, would you wear a yellow jumper ?, would you paint your walls yellow ?, would you eat off yellow plates ?

Yellow should be for one thing only, custard, yes... Yellow tastes good with apple pie it looks **** on cars

That's cool, I was just curious. Thinking about it, I've always been pretty frugal myself - even if I won the lottery and was able to buy any car I wanted, I'd still have the same concerns :p

I think it does matter what car. The whole point of cars like this is surely to stand out and to look outrageous. So yeah, a yellow Mondeo would look ridiculous. A yellow Ferrari on the other hand, doesn't.

Funnily enough, there's a yellow BMW Z4 which I keep seeing parked near my workplace - it's like a deep yellow, almost mustard, and it actually looks bloody gorgeous
