Solo Friendly MMO

I will definately try the free ones (no reason not to in fairness) - but bit teh bullet and picked up DC Universe yesterday!

Thanks,

I disagree about WoW. Yes you can get to max level solo, but to get any decent gear you MUST group up with others in parties or raids. This is coming from a hardcore WoW player who had to give it up due to family stuff. In the end, I could only play during the day and so got no raids or groups and it makes the game the feel very empty.!

That's the same with all MMOs, WoW, EQ2, GW etc. You can solo to level cap and a bit beyond (well a lot in GW case) but ultimately you are going to run out of things to do. You need to group to do the raids and harder dungeons which is where the real long term play is.

I agree, and don't get me wrong i do want to play with others when I can (lol) - just dont want to rely on it for 90% of the game

Not "all" MMOs, UO didn't require you to group up to do raids or questing.. because it didn't have raids or quests, or groups for that matter :) You could solo forever in UO if you wanted and still see and do everything.

Cryptic MMOs (Star Trek Online and Champions Online) are very solo friendly.

The Old Republic couldn't be further from being solo friendly. There are numerous quests that require soloing and currently you can't even get anywhere near the level cap without doing them.

If you don't care at all about gear then WoW would be okay to solo, but I don't see why you'd not care about gear in a game that's all about the gear!

Show me an MMO that isn't... Every game listed so far, with the exception of EVE has a strong emphasis on grouping at the end game. Maybe something like WAR, with it's strong emphasis on PvP

Well, pick ANY MMO on the Market, and it'll meet your requirements, games that deman grouping to progress these days are nearly non existent.

Not every game. Champions Online and Star Trek Online still have little grouping at the endgame.

I'm not talking about any game other than WoW so I don't need to show you anything mate. Anyway, people have already mentioned others that are not like that in this thread.

So defensive... In the grand scheme of things, WoW is about as solo friendly as you can possibly get, no instance runs? They have that LFG tool now, and I'm pretty sure it does raids as well.

The only other games people have mentioned are sandboxes, where depending on the game, you are still missing out on much of a game by playing it alone. And besides, they don't have end games...

If you want a game where you can see the entire game alone.... well it doesn't exist, try a singleplayer RPG, If you just want an MMO where you can solo to the end game, then take your pick from every triple A on the market, as well as all of those coming in the near future.

Sandboxes are still MMOs. You can see the entire game of UO alone, so it does exist :)
