Some games not starting in Steam

Thanks for the replies

OS is windows 10 64bit
Running 8 gig RAM
i5 4670K
R9 390

Games are Dishonoured 1, Bioshock Infinite, Rome 2. These games all store purchased.
The other annoying problem is Company of heroes 2 Ardennes assault which I uninstalled from Steam but again cannot reinstall because of the CD key again.

Help much appreciated

Once you've registered the key it shouldn't be needed again as it's in your library.

Sure it's a legitimate key?

Are you looking in the right place in your steam library? Once a key is registered to your account it is there permanently. If you go on your "games" tab they should all be there to re-install.

Have you updated from Windows 7/8 to Windows 10 rather than a clean install?

When I upgraded last year I had the same issue, clicked to play the game and nothing seemed to happen. It seemed to affect quite a few games and was pretty annoying, I tried to verify the files, run in admin/compatibility modes and reinstall etc but nothing worked.

Only way I fixed it was by doing a fresh install of Windows 10, since then everything works perfectly.

Sounds like you're using a different Steam account to the one that you activated the game codes on.

sounds like something to do with user account access

I have noticed that most games in the library tell you when they were last played however the games in question don't:confused:

Also older games will start so I think I have only ever had the one account

If they are in your library then they are on the correct account. Are the games installed? What error are you getting?

In your library page, when you look at one of the games in question. Does the button say "purchase" or "install"? It isn't linked to your account if it says purchase, but if it says install and there's a publisher CD key also needed, are you sure there isn't a further log into the publisher bit when the game is launched (like Anno 2070 for instance)
