Some games not starting in Steam

All games in the library are either install or play.

Dishonoured has the option to play but no last played date.

Double clicking from the library, selecting play from the library or using the desktop shortcut nothing happens no messages or anything almost as if the rig is dead. :(

Right click on the game in your libary menu and verfy the game files, if that fails delete local files and re install the game
 
Deleted local content, game gone tried to install yep you guessed it CD key linked to a different account :rolleyes:

Well team fortress 2 is available to install and that was purchased in 2008 but is linked to my current account.
So based on that I purchased TF2 on my current account changed accounts 2 years ago purchased Dishonoured on a different account and then went back to the most recent one.
Utter ******** STEAM

Sorry if you feel like putting a gun to your head:D
 
So when you go games tab and select the game on the left hand side, then click the install button / play your getting that message or are you trying to add the game key again?

Does it not have the option to 'View CD Key' when you right-click the greyed out title? Some games do, some games don't.

When you say "re-install" do you mean you are trying to "activate a key" in steam? The first place I would start is to remove steam and re install the platform. Once that's is done you need to reinstall the game - you do that from the games tab not by entering a game serial code. Under the games tab if you click the game then it will give you the "play" or "install" button. If a game isn't loading after you press the play button then you can follow the steps mentioned higher up the page to "verify the integrity" of the game. This usually fixes most errors that I've come across.

I might be wrong but it sounds like you're trying to install the games by adding the game keys again. If that isn't the case then you would have to contact steam support as they are the only ones that will be able to help if a key has been removed and registered to another account.

This is exactly what I am trying to figure out. Sounds like something isn't being done correctly.
 
In my mind the 2 possibilities are:
- CD key has been revoked for the listed games
- User error in installing the games

Hopefully Steam support can help you out (i've never had to use them.. but have heard horror stories...)
 
I know you have had enough by now but I have noticed something else.

In my Steam library there are 23 games however only 21 are in the my games file.

Bioshock infinite and Rome 2 are classified as other games, These both have an option to click play but nothing happens.

Everything in the my games file is fine.
 
The "Other games" thing does sound familiar... by any chance did you activate those games when you were in a different country? Or using a VPN?

Alternatively, they could be games that have been installed on the PC but under a different account.
