MSI AMD Radeon R9 285 Gaming Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card @ £149.99 inc VAT

GX-262-MS_400.jpg

A graphics card is the single most important element for more FPS. As gamers, we understand that not just any graphics card "will do". That's why we bring you the best of the best. We don't want to bug you with noise and heat, but we DO want to give you more performance. With MSI GAMING series graphics cards you get just that.

Most MSI Gaming graphics cards come pre-overclocked out of the factory. This simply means you get more performance out of your card, without spending any time on checking for maximum clocks and stability. Pre-overclocked graphics cards simply give more performance and you don't have to worry about damaging your card, it is completely covered by our warranty!

MSI's Twin Frozr has been the industry defining graphics card cooler. The first Twin Frozr kicked off the dual-fan trend and today MSI stays true to its dual-fan dual-slot design where others have to resort to less effective means.

The other part that the Twin Frozr cooler uses is a large Aluminium fin grid array that provides a huge amount of surface area for cooling. Heat from the GPU is transferred to the fin grid array by virtue of heat pipes with MSI's special SuperPipe technology. SuperPipes transfer heat twice as fast as regular heat pipes enabling an MSI GAMING graphics card to stay cooler than the competition.

Futhermore, MSI provide all new Airflow Control technology on Twin Frozr. This new thermal tech. is leading airflow to heat pipe by spcial deflector on heatsink, so it can deflect more airflow to heat pipes directly. In addtion,This exclusive heatsink design is increasing the area of heatsink so that enhancing the efficiency of dissipation much more.

Really powerful cards for around the £150 mark !!!! :)

And how I laughed at you, you do realise others things come into play and it is not as simple as that?
How I laughed back

And yes it is!
Point still stands, AMPS WATTS go hand in hand if the card needs 56 amp @12v it requires 672 watts, simple as.

What about a psu with more than one 12v rail.

Don't believe me, then read some reviews on the 295x2, they all say that when choosing a psu it is the amps that matter, not the wattage.

What on earth are you on about, and why wouldn't I believe you. They are referring to the combined wattage of a PSU been split across 2 rails

So if a 600w PSU has 2 rails it might be split 50/50 which is 25A per rail, either way I'm saying APMS x VOLTS = WATTS .

Im not disagreeing with the equation, just saying to use watts as a guide but amps are more important.

Eg. An 750w psu may have 2 x 22amp rails with the remaining ampage on the 3v and 5v. This would not work as amps are less than 56 on the 12v rail. See: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-059-OP

Whereas an 750w psu with a single 62amp 12v rail would work.

You also need to check available current and whether amperage can be maintained without voltage drops.
Lastly, you need some spare power, so most 850w+ (ideally 1000w) single rails psu should work, but check the amps to be sure.

HEHE, Guess we was misunderstanding each other :o, wires crossed and all that .

I read it as forget wattage you need amps, not, you need enough amps on the rail you are using to supply the card.

Ask in CS, i expect they'll honour the deal. :)

It's going to be a sad day when all the 295x2 stock dries up.

Just off the phone with CS, soon to be the proud owner of a XFX R9 295x2 @ £500. :D

Will post some pics of completed rig in owners thread hopefully next week.

Thanks for the suggestion AMDMatt and thank you overclockers
