Hi guys,

i recieved my new Primo Ignition system this morning from overclockers and am very impressed with it so far.

just a quick question about connection to my router wirelessly. on my old desktop i had this usb adapter.

its a belkin high speed mode wireless g usb network adapter - f5d7051

and i could connect to the internet fine. now i have tried to use the same adapter on my new computer but not having any luck with connecting. is there something im missing with windows 7? i previously had xp so im new to this operating system.

any possible ideas would be great.

thanks rob

First place to start would be Belkins site for Windows 7 drivers. The link given shows compatibility for Windows 2000 and XP so that may be why 7 isn't automatically picking it up.

thanks for the tips, i have looked on belkins site and the drivers/software only seem to work with or at least are supported with xp/vista. think i may be time to get a new adapter then.

Any recommendations?

what version is it? if it's a V1 then it's 32-bit only, I'm guessing you have 64-bit...
TBH I'd stay away from Belkin, this is a constant niggle with their kit, drivers not updated/rubbish and problems with certain configs.

Also, I find that USB wireless adapters are a bit hit and miss and prefer a PCI or PCI-E based card. Harder to fit (have to open case) but as you have a brand new system I wouldn't worry about it. However, if it's practical I'd wire it in using an ethernet cable, faster, more stable and less prone to problems...if it ain't practical then wireless it will have to be.

Hope that helps fella!

tp-link seem ok for the price. It's hit and miss how it will connect, too many variables to take into account. Some people like wireless, I'm not a fan, much prefer wired connections...

i guessed it would be hit or miss, i would have a wired connection in my room but as its the parents house they dont like the idea of me routing cables from downstairs through the ceiling into the rooms upstairs. so my only option is wireless. cant wait to get my own house lol

Stay away from usb nano adapter like the one from edimax.
Useless piece of kit , wont even connect to the router that is just next door with a full signal strength.
