SOME RYZEN 7 1700 OVERCLOCKING!

This is what I wanted to find out...But Only AMDMatt has done any testing I have asked politely for...
Like I posted two days ago I've done around 4 hours of Encoding in Handbrake with x265 @ 4ghz 1.42v which given you want to know what Ryzen is capable of for the purpose of rendering video in Premier Pro I thought although not the 8 hours of Prime95 you was looking for, it was relevant information.

I've now done just short of 24 hours of encodes at 3.6ghz 1.21v

I appreciate you feel 8 hours of prime is indicative of stability, from my own experiences that isn't always the case so I like to test with work loads that my system does get used for
 
Then should have no reason or issue to run Aida64 for 8hrs then....:)

I dont think people have an issue with doing it, just unnecessary for most folk to do so when they have a stable system for their use and it is only to satisfy one or two persons on the internet (No offence). :)

But I don't play Aida64 for 8 hrs - so why would I bother running it?

If I want to ensure my system is stable enough to get through a 3 hr encoding session, then I'll run a 3 hr encoding session. If it completes, then it's stable enough for a 3 hr encoding session.

If I want to ensure my system is stable when playing games, then I'll play some games.

People are getting defensive as they know or don't want to know whether they can pass that bench...

Don't run the test...Fine...But also don't moan about being asked to either....Just ignore the request and move on...

I don't think that people get defensive because of it passing, maybe more they think it is unnecessary and CBA to run a test for such a long time.

That old chestnut...I don't have the time...I'd start the run...go to work then return home...

Leave it running overnight? Not practical if your pc is in your bedroom though...

No effort other than clicking the start test button :p
 
Well this is as far as l am willing to take this on my MSI Tomahawk, R7 1700 with a Ben Nevis cooler:

Black screens at 4.0 with 1.35 and 1.4, not keen to go to 1.45 with this cooler. and the extra 100Mhz would prob need a nice 240 AIO.

I've not seen any lengthy tests for Ryzen at 4ghz yet...

Looks like maybe 1.45 vcore is needed and hefty water for any 8 hour stability runs and 24/7 running?
 
Maybe just not seated correctly? But you're probably correct that temp recording isn't fully accurate yet.

You have to remember that AMD measure the temperature different to Intel. They measure a temp on the CPU, and on the board and then apply an offset, so it can be quite different depending on the board and other factors.

The Phenoms had the same issue.

It's a bit of a pain because it makes you unsure of how much you can push a chip
