Hi everyone, well a few days ago I was all set on getting a RAID 0 setup by adding another 500gb WD hdd to my pc, but then I decided to snap up an SSD deal. I managed to get a 30gb OCZ vertex for £50 (hope that is good :S) and since it is my first SSD I was wondering on getting some advice.

I'll be using windows 7 and will have to reinstall everything, do i need to deactivate my copies of windows and office or will it be fine? Should I attempt to update the firmware on the drive? And is there any other tweaking that I should do so it runs as fast as it can?

Thanks very much!

Step 1 - Make sure you have the latest firmware on your drive. Here's the Firmware and installation guide http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/f...x-Solid2-Onyx-Turbo-and-also-EX-1.6-FW-Update

Step 2 - Once the firmware has been updated, make sure your bios is configured to run "Storage Configuration" on AHCI, press F10 and Install OS.

Step 3 - If you're using Windows 7, Read this guide http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/f...3-*-Windows-7-Ultimate-Tweaks-amp-Utilities-*

Once done, enjoy your SSD. :D

GOt my SSD today and installed latest firmware iwthout a problem. Installed windows 7 and right now I'm getting seq read -185mb seq write 95mb random read - 140mb seq write 95mb, look good so far?

Thanks for your help! The SSD is really good, I'm so pleased I got one!

Just another quick question though, before I had it I was using Win7 64 bit with 4gb of RAM, and it displayed all the RAM. now I have put Win7 64 bit back on it says - 4gb installed (3.25gb usable), is this something to do with the SSD?
