Someone crashed into me! Is this harsh?

What about the inconvenience due to being left out of a car? How much does a hire car cost?

Where are you getting the hire car from? It was a car park bump at 10mph hardly going to write the car off is it? Seems like he has got his so called' mechanic friend' to quote more than the damage is worth and scam the guy, that’s my judgment.

I'd be a bit annoyed. The least the father could have done is given you a wide berth. I wouldn't worry - they messed up, an you've got your cash. Sounds like a result.

Saw some sillly bint in a shed drive into back of a DB7 the other day in 2mph traffic. It's just so unnecessary. Felt pretty bad for him, as she wouldn't even speak to him (language difficulties) - just called her husband and handed over the phone lol...

Well he can't drive the car while it's being repaired regardless of the damage?

So basically you're feeling guilty for taking more money than the repair will cost?

Sounds harsh to me, yes.

haha I dont feel guilty at all, and at the end of the day if I stuck to the law like a good citizen I should have called the police, got them to come, they would have both recieved fines and bans (?) so really I did him a favour. Thats how I justify it :p

OK, lets be clear...knowingly overcharging him is tantamount to bribery.

If the cash is ballpark what the repair will cost, well done.

I need the car for work so im gonna have to pay for travel while its getting repaired or I probably will get a hire car depends. In fact I might even do the work myself and keep some of the money. And I had never met my friends boss.

So who didn't start learning to drive in a car park?

Yes it's illegal to be learning to drive without cover or* without a proper instructor, knowing that along with the fact you had two other guys with you round his house, well he hasn't really got an option.

Situation could be worth a few grand ;)

someone reversed into me in a carpark earlier in the year.
i offered him the choice of going through insurance or giving me cash
i was given a quote of £400 to fix it, so that's what i wanted from him

i haven't fixed it as it's only cosmetic and i needed the money for something else, and i felt a bit bad when i took it from him.
i guess it's only natural

I didn't.

neither did i.

he got of lightly and so did she being uninsured. extra moolah for the inconvenience caused is no big deal imo - i did the same thing when i started driving. had the car 5 days and somebody drove in to the back of me at a set of traffic lights. He payed up as he didnt want to go through his insurance. In hindsight, i would have if i was in his position - the damage to the front of his audi - cracked bumper, bent bonnet ect - would have cost FAR more than the exhaust he bent on my xsara lol
