Someone got the Radeon R9 290 by mistake 'primouf' OCUK

for the noise i think it's the same as a 290x, playing BF4 for a few hours with fan @44% for 93°c it is a bit noisy if i go any higher but my case is right next to me.

£350 even and it's a damn good purchase. It's looking like a serious price-performance card.

Get GPUtweak from ASUS - it will let you raise the voltage on the core and perhaps get more out of it - assuming the card hasn't gone back yet.

No contact by AMD, i'm scared the retailer won't take it back on their fees, no news since yesterday should have got an email with printed postage to send it back but still nothing...

Gibbo do you know if Sapphire have contacted them?

Hey ! here you go, ultra settings 90FOV MSAA x4 1080p siege of Shanghai 64 slot Avg= 90.699 FPS on a 30min round.

with the 290 not fully OC, just a small 1000/1325 Mhz

Yes i am sure it could go higher with the voltage unlocked but even at stock 947 to 1115 is quite nice :) it's going back soon so won't be pushing it more.

It is great card performance wise but that cooler is bad, playing a lot of BF4 and she is making a lot noise (around 50% ventilation) really do need some costum 290/290x asap !

primouf, can you please check if the R9 290 has an uber and quiet bios?
2 Days ago someone posted results of the R9 290.
Its from a journal (Abonnement) and he got this magazine @ friday ( nomally should got it at monday).

So yeah there are some benchmark results.
I asked for quiet and ubermode because our mod there couldnt believe it and i think he has tested the R9 290 too but can not post results because of NDA.

You can check the results here, but before that, i have to appologize for my bad english.
I am from germany and i hope you have no problem to comprehend what i wrote :D

Edit: Ok another guy there said, that it has 2 Bios modes but both with the same clocks :D

I don't think i could go a lot higher without unlocking the voltage, i start to get small artefacts with higher GPU clocks :p

Hey !! no problemo for the comprehension ;)

Yes i do have a switch and on both modes it's the same BIOS with the exact clocks,in overdrive it also has the same ventilation target (47%) on both.
