I have just upgraded a pc with new cpu ram and motherboard...(asrock conroe 1333- d667 r1) and i am trying to use an old ide hdd only the hdd will not boot up the os. i have added my sata drive with my os on and the ide drive is shown a slave this is fine...only when i try to boot from the ide alone (which is my mates drive to ease confusion). i dont know why this is happening????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????? :mb_badpc::

Yeah, reinstall needed. The low level software on the drive will be expecting cues from a different set of hardware if you've changed mobo. You can get some enterprise-grade imaging software that'll let you migrate an image across to new hardware, but even that's not without its peccadilloes.
