Shops haven't received new stock for months (from what I've read anyway and corresponds with shortages) and now HOLY MASSIVE COMPETITOR BATMAN are showing all current SKU's as discontinued, as well as the wi-fi adapter.

New SKU's on the way? (as if we hadn't had enough already)

hmmm....

One of my local retailers in Ipswich has a sign in their window saying Elite's are back in stock and to get them while you can.

I thought it was a bit odd at the time, but it makes sense now.

In a way, it's kind of good that there is a shortage. It means the system is still selling fairly well.

Crap, this thread made me realize I need to choose between a Macbook and a new 360 for my birthday in May.

****.

Not exactly a hard choice is it?

I love my MacBook and it is always by my side (except when the wife yoinks it :D ) - I do not feel the same about my 360. It's good but not MacBook good.

Where did you hear this? Are they adding it?

And i agree, everyone complains about PS3 pricing but the £55 wi-fi is built in, not to mention bargain blu-ray

There was a rumour that ms were going to add wifi to their console for a while now, and with the wifi adapter being discontinued I though it was going to happen, I may have jumped the gun with my statement. :p

I doubt there adding anything to be honest, its more likely to do with console shortages than anything else. If it was wifi being added i would thought it would have leaked out of the FCC findings, all devices with a radio transmitter of some kind have to go through it in the US, thats how the 80 and 40Gb PS3 was discovered. To be honest who knows what these console manufactures are doing regarding SKU's, and why would they discontinue the wifi adaptor even if they had a 360 with one? Wouldnt they want to give the 17million other 360 owners a chance to go wireless? I dont think there going to say if you want to go wireless buy a new 360 are they?

I don't see the appeal of having built in WiFi. If you want to stream HiDef content, plain old g network isn't ideal and it means anyone with n based networks are out of luck. That and the fact that using a cable (where possible obviously) is still the best option IMO.

It would be nice, but not if it means a more expensive 360. A price cut for the console and the adapter would be better IMO.
