something has gone horribly wrong

I know it might be a stupid question but does the H100 have any sort of plastic film on the cpu block and did you remove it if it does friend of mine had similar problem and it was the plastic melting. Other then that get an air cooler if you can and try that it will at least tell you if it's a cooler issue. Bios checking to make sure voltages are where they should be also good idea.

I have 2 sticks of 4gb and 1 8gb yeah I did remove the plastic first but just left the stock thermal paste on and I've literally just bought the h100i like 5 days ago so buying another cooIer is out of the question. I also noticed my ram frequency had changed from 1333 to like 1075 or something If that means anything. I'll post tomorrow what my bios temps are saying but I'm in the attic so my room is pretty dam cold most the time hence fairly low temps I think.

Quick update I've turned it on this morning and now it's reading cpu fan error on the Asus start up screen bit. But it all seems to be set up fine?

Opened it up and I have cpu fan pins and cpu opt pins I have it plugged into cpu fan should ot be in the opt pins?

Managed to get into bios for a couple seconds before shut down and cpu was reading 50 degrees Celsius that can't be right surley? It's probably about 17-19 degrees in my room checked the cooler it's screwed in correctly. With no plastic on.

My computer doesn't stay on for more than about 20 seconds at best before turning itself off.

Asus crapware?

The only time I have seen "CPU Fan Error " is with the ASUS AI Suite
installed , had it myself , got rid of it ....error stopped .

Also a couple of weeks back I was running an asus crosshair mobo and an 8320 and had the fan expert installed and was getting issues with that too ...ie pc wouldnt shut down or boot up properly

I don't have asus ai installed I don't think also I can't uninstall even if I did it happens right at the start then says press f1 to enter setup hit that loads bios 2 seconds later it switches off again. All my fans are spinning so their receiving power I bought an 850W psu to replace the 500W as that was the original thought of it not working. The cooler is definitely receiving power because it's light comes on and pulses like a set it to. I've removed my ram and even put it in different dimm slots I think I had them in the wrong ones but it's still doing the same thing. Cpu fan error I tried plugging theb3 pin connector into cpu opt and that did nothing.

It's a brand new mobo and all its LEDs are on and working if it was the mobo surley it wouldn't even hit the bios screen?

I don't have another motherboard to try it on and can't really just go out and buy one I'm broke now.

This is a good time to take 2 steps back and start troubleshooting from the basics.

Grab a cardboard box, strip the PC down and test it outside your case with just the CPU (Stock cooler), 1 stick of 4GB RAM, GPU and PSU.

Do you reach the BIOS successfully?
Add your SSD and see if you make it to the desktop without issues.

Only connections should be, CPU fan to CPU_FAN, 1 SATA cable and 1 SATA power cable, 24pin, 8pin and 8pin to GPU.

If this doesn't boot properly, could be the SSD or Motherboard, then try a fresh install of windows on the SSD or HDD.

Have you actually tried with just a single stick of ram as I suggested? Take out the single 8Gb stick as well as your pc will only run in single channel with three sticks and it probably has different timings/voltage to the 2x4Gb sticks.

CPU fan error pops up due to a setting in the bios. If you set cpu fan speed monitor to disabled in the monitoring section of the bios that error will go away. it happens a lot with Asus boards when watercooling as it reads the pump speed below whatever Asus has set it at for a warning and throws a hissy fit.

Yeah tried with just one stick still get the same cpu fan error It doesn't stay on long enough for me to change anything though. I managed to get into the bios for a couple moments and noticed the cpu temperature was rising got to about 42 and turned off again. This is so annoying haha

I love pretty sure I have the h100i set up right as well. I have the usb part plugged in and then the y cable coming from the top amd attached the 2 fans to that. The esata power is plugged in. And the 3 pin header that comes of that is plugged into cpu fan header on motherboard

Sounds to me like the processor might be overheating. 50c in the bios is rather high, and as the computer has only just been switched on at this point, the temperature could still be rising.

Is everything definitely working ok with the CPU cooler? Thermal grease? Good contact? No obstructions?
