My 4870 Arrived today but something aint right. The core clock operates at 750 mhz which is fine but my memory is at 900 mhz? wth is going on there its emant to be 3600 mhz. And even when the gpu is idle the temp approached 80 degress I mean what the hell is going on here?

And when I play crysis it cant even render the videos but renders it in game fine?

Anyone have any idea what my problem is because something is serrriously wrong here

Hint, what's 900 x 4?

They do run hot, so don't worry. The render issues sound like driver problems, strip them out completely using drivercleaner and start again. Apply the hotfix and latest drivers.

My pc specs are as follows...

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5
Amd Phenom 9950
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB)
Creative XFI Fatlity Soundcard

Still the cars is at 80 degrees c and im not even running a game, this is crazy

Wth is up :/

is the ram not 900x4 ?

Correct.

DDR5 is Quad Data Rate: 900Mhz x 4 = 3600MHz.

As for the temperature it's normal, Ati cards aren't best known for having effective and silent coolers. Get yourself a decent aftermarket one if you are worried about it being high, it should be fine at that temperature though if not RMA it.

GPUs generally run hotter than CPUs so you can't compare the temps really. 80c is normal with the stock heatsink/fan. Replacing it will drop this to 40-50c area though.

ok ok is 80 degrees seroiosly the norm temperature for these cards thats sounds kinda mad I could boil water on the thing I had a 8800 gts and that ran at about 50-60 degrees c 80 to me is kinda new I thuogh something was seriously wrong lol

anyway apologies I was panicking for a minuite there thanks for the quick replys tho :)
