turned on my xbox to get 1 red light, in position 4

got a screen with E74 code on it, which is the av cable, cables fine as i was playing on it earlier. i dont have a different cable to test.

is there anyway to do like a soft reset?

ive unpluged it from power for 10 mins and will try it again soon

my xbox went the same way... the screen went all garbled then the light lit up in the fourth quaderant. phoned microsoft who said it was a gpu malfunction (or something to do with the gpu anyway! after going through the "unplug cable etc" tests
unforunately wasnt the 3rrod so they said i had to pay for repairs

I told you that you should have got rock band earlier, it is just jealous that you keep coming to mine to play, get rock band and tell it to stop being selfish

how much did they say you had to pay and what did you do.

it was bought jan 2007

mine went after playing gh3, the lighting in the game went like strobe lighting and the screen flashed like mad when playing for a couple of days, then next time i turned it on i had the 1 red light.

I don't get it, what will RROD'ing it do? Surely they will just fix that fault alone and send it back to you with the original problem still intact?

They don't send replacements, they just repair your console, if you didn't already know that.

its the difference between paying for the repair and not paying for it. i believe the 3 year warranty only covers the 3rrod?

Good luck with the rrod, friend of mine had the same problem but was unfortunately unable to force a rrod. Result of which was he had to pay for repairs, its all very well and good Microsoft extending the rrod warranty to 3 years but imo the console has so many other hardware issues that are unacceptable and should be included in the extension.

Just my 2p

yes I realise they will fix the RROD issue for free, but why would they also fix the original issue? Unless they will fix any other faults at the same time for free, even if out of warranty, which seems unlikley? I dunno.

when its a 3rrod its a mobo swap isnt it? im hoping that will fix the problem i have, if its not then i will try saying that they havent fixed it and hopefully send it back to them.

imite aswell try it before spendint £60 on fixing it

The none-3rrod errors aren't bad, you don't see that many at all, certainly not compared to 3rrod on Xbox360 or BR drive errors on PS3.

The new Xbox360's are fantastic though.
